Cecilie Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Here's my entry for the Spaghetti Western competition, category 2: Brickfoot tribe village. The small tribe named Brickfoot has chosen to settle near a waterfall where fish in the river is plentiful, and passers-by are usually friendly. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Beautiful work. The Pharoah's Quest pieces look great on the totem pole, and the way you staggered the slopes of the wagon canopy provides the perfect effect. Quote
Hartfan Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Native indian theme is my favourite. Love this creation. Nice job ! Quote
TheLegoDr Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Brilliant waterfall! And I agree, that canopy looks stunning the way it is designed. Who needs cloth when you have bricks! Quote
Rhynix Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Very nice design! Although, I should add another horse to the wagon.... Don't know if 1 horse will be able to pull it... Quote
Praiter Yed Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 What's not to like? The waterfall, the cart, the totem pole, the teepees they're all ace Quote
kabel Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 wow, I really like the teepees and the totem poles, however, a totem pole is an item of the pacific northwest and not of the prairie!!! Quote
Cpt. Dan Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 The design on that snake is genius! I have never seen anything like it. Great work on the entire MOC. Quote
Vindicare Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Excellent MOC! I love all the details in this. The cliff face and the waterfall are great. That snake is genius! I love it all. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 (edited) Excellent waterfall. Makes me wish I'd gotten a whole cup of the clear 1x2 plates from PaB when I had the chance last weekend. I'd been trying to figure out a waterfall of my own and using those had never occurred to me. All the other details are superb as well. As for the totem pole only being in the northwest, I think that's completely forgivable considering how great it is. And since when does everything need to be completely historically accurate anyhow? This is Lego after all. Edited August 21, 2011 by CorneliusMurdock Quote
mobricki Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Everything is excellent except for one detail the horse pulling your covered wagon those were pulled by oxen. Quote
badboytje88 Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 I love this MOC. The color of the water really makes it stand out. I'm a big fan of your tipi design. Wish LEGO would have made em like that when they released the indian sets. Quote
Khorne Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 What's not to like about his MOC here? Everywhere you look, there's something interesting to see. I love the way you made the waterfall, the use of plates placed like that gives an interesting texture to the rocks. I also really like your teepees. They're a great-looking brick-built alternative to the old cloth ones LEGO once produced. The way you built the totem is also amazing. Great use of the PQ wings! And lastly, the wagon also looks really good. You managed to capture the cloth look of the canvas really good in LEGO bricks . There's really nothing not to like here . Quote
Dark_Alamez Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Everything is excellent except for one detail the horse pulling your covered wagon those were pulled by oxen. Anyway the wagon is really good, isn't it? ; ) Like the rock texture. Haven't seen something like this before. But I would have made the plain more relief. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Exceptional work Cecilie! I'm lovin' every facet of this build - from the waterfalls, totem pole, teepees, wagon - every detail is just wonderfully-done. Great job and best of luck in the comp! Quote
morente team Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Very detailed, the totem is really wonderful. Quote
Cecilie Posted August 22, 2011 Author Posted August 22, 2011 Thanks everyone for your nice comments . Beautiful work. The Pharoah's Quest pieces look great on the totem pole, and the way you staggered the slopes of the wagon canopy provides the perfect effect. The totempole actually started out with the idea to use those mummy wings on a totempole . Brilliant waterfall! And I agree, that canopy looks stunning the way it is designed. Who needs cloth when you have bricks! I don't even have any cloth, but I think I would have made it brick built any way, much more of a challenge, and way cooler in my opinion . Very nice design! Although, I should add another horse to the wagon.... Don't know if 1 horse will be able to pull it... It's a very strong horse! wow, I really like the teepees and the totem poles, however, a totem pole is an item of the pacific northwest and not of the prairie!!! Who cares, it's LEGO ! And, ehm, they brought the totempole with them from where they were before they came to settle here . The design on that snake is genius! I have never seen anything like it. Great work on the entire MOC. Excellent MOC! I love all the details in this. The cliff face and the waterfall are great. That snake is genius! I love it all. I kind of wanted a snake that was a bit more intimidating than the molded snake LEGO makes, so that the boy had something to be scared of . Excellent waterfall. I always stock up on more 1x2 trans plates as often as I can, such a great little piece! And I love making waterfalls in LEGO . And yes, precisely, it's LEGO, it's not historically accurate, and was never meant to be . Everything is excellent except for one detail the horse pulling your covered wagon those were pulled by oxen. See my previous comment, not trying to make this historically accurate . I love this MOC. The color of the water really makes it stand out. I'm a big fan of your tipi design. Wish LEGO would have made em like that when they released the indian sets. It was really hard to make those tipis look right, they're a bit too fragile to be an official LEGO design though . What's not to like about his MOC here? Everywhere you look, there's something interesting to see. I love the way you made the waterfall, the use of plates placed like that gives an interesting texture to the rocks. I also really like your teepees. They're a great-looking brick-built alternative to the old cloth ones LEGO once produced. The way you built the totem is also amazing. Great use of the PQ wings! And lastly, the wagon also looks really good. You managed to capture the cloth look of the canvas really good in LEGO bricks . There's really nothing not to like here . You flatter me . It was a pain to stack all those 1x2 (yes, 1x2) plates to achieve that rock texture . But it was worth it! Anyway the wagon is really good, isn't it? ; ) Like the rock texture. Haven't seen something like this before. But I would have made the plain more relief. There is some relief on the plain, but I ran out of tan plates . Quote
Izzy Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 This scene really is fantastic. Simple, clean and uncluttered, but with so many amazing details on closer inspection. Everything looks so well thought out and placed perfectly. I don't think you would need to change anything, even if you did have more tan plates. I love the colour scheme too, a lot of really nice and somewhat uncommon shades that go so well together. Really eye catching. Oh and that wagon, is just... ah, beautiful! Quote
Ratshot Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Wow, that wagon is beautiful! The rest of the entry looks good as well. Good luck Quote
Skipper Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Reminds me of the Rapid River Village set. A lot to love in this, lots of great techniques and I like how you found a brick solution for everything (teepees, snake, wagon cover, etc) rather than using the "official" parts. Good luck in the contest! Quote
Tervlon Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 The wagon cover and tepees are very well done. Great build! Quote

I'm glad not everyone is trying to find something I can change . Wow, that wagon is beautiful! The rest of the entry looks good as well. Good luck Thanks. I wasn't sure whether to include the wagon or not, I'm glad I did though . Reminds me of the Rapid River Village set. A lot to love in this, lots of great techniques and I like how you found a brick solution for everything (teepees, snake, wagon cover, etc) rather than using the "official" parts. Good luck in the contest! Thanks . Sadly, I was in my dark ages during LEGO's western theme, so I own none of those sets or parts. I pondered whether to get some of those parts on bricklink, or just go for brick built solutions. Well, I guess you can see what I chose . The wagon cover and tepees are very well done. Great build! Thanks. Those were some of the things I really struggled to get "right". Persistence is the key! Quote
Solitary Dark Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 So many wonderful things in this scene - The rocks and waterful are stunning - and the character in that Snake - just marvellous. Good luck in the competition. Quote
Cecilie Posted August 26, 2011 Author Posted August 26, 2011 So many wonderful things in this scene - The rocks and waterful are stunning - and the character in that Snake - just marvellous. Good luck in the competition. Thanks . I wanted the snake to look threatening and open it's mouth wide. I think the frog does a decent job with the angle at least... Quote
hanzocloud Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 wow you gave me an idea to change my rivers in my landscape from blue color to that clear blue color you used!. Nice ! Quote
