UPDATE!!! Scroll near the bottom of this page for pics of the surrounding environment, along with many improvements to the Pizzeria's interior and exterior. View the gallery with every picture at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pogsklinc/sets/72157627335399999/

Hey everybody. I just wanted to show pictures of my progress on a restaurant I've been building over the past couple of days. I still have a bit of work to do, but the basics are down. My goal is not to be modular in feel. As this is my first ever city MOC, modular-style buildings intimidate me, so I took the classic town approach. I also apologize for the images and their lighting. I'm new at this and have almost no idea what I'm doing. Regardless, I hope you enjoy your quick tour around the Pizza Shop. :)

Views from around the shop

The sign, which needs some work. It looks like the Mexican flag with a pizza, but I don't quite know what else to do for signage with the pieces I have.

Satisfied customers dining on the roof.

The downstairs dining area

The unfortunate table under the stairs. The town magician seems to be enjoying himself enough though.

The man tries to catch a waiter's eye, hoping that he and his new girlfriend shall feast on Italian delights. Little does he know, the only waiter in this place is too busy serving people upstairs....

Another man sits and waits for takeout to slip over the counter. The waiter also can grab food from there to serve people, but as I've stated, he's busy upstairs.

The chef and his new apprentice, (currently doubling as a dishwasher), are hard at work in the kitchen.

6054604069_b089f18629_z.jpg

Since the place was too small for the pantry, the chef installed a series of hooks to hold what he needs for cooking. Sauce pans, pots, cups, knives, pizza cutters, and the works. This kitchen crew is ready for anything.

The blocky old kitchen sink with lots of clean dishes and cups.

6054609713_c84463eb61_z.jpg

The pizza making station. The chef pre-made some pizza crusts for the filling before the rush came. Now he just needs to add, sauce from the dispenser, pepperoni, cheese, and whatever that green stuff is.

6055158598_5433722050_z.jpg

Before he can do that however, he must take the pizza out of the oven for the hungry customer.

6054626043_8408a9e532_z.jpg

That's all the pictures I've got for today. Again, I'm sorry my pics aren't the best. I'm new to all of this.

To do:

Pizza delivery car

Move baseplates to make an exterior with trashcans, rats, street life, and the like

Make the oven look like it heats things

Add pictures inside hanging on the walls

Maybe add some greenery

Potentially eventually texture the outside walls a little bit

Fix the sign up top

I would buy pieces for MOC's, but I'm truly not able to. That's why the floor looks so amateur and the like. I also only own 3 Lego pizza pieces. This makes pizza restaurant building difficult. :P I'm trying to make do though. Regardless, I thought I should share this. As it is my first, I'm super excited about its potential, even if currently it's made with the most rudimentary and simple techniques and looks like a piece of crap. All comments are welcome. I'm curious to hear what people with actual experience with this sort of thing have to say. Thanks for reading. :)

Thanks, lightningtiger. I think I'm able to tile the sink. I already know I can't tile the tables though. I don't have enough brown tiles and can't really order any pieces, but thanks so much for the suggestion. I do have a question though. As the floor downstairs is tiled, does the upstairs look out of place without them? I know I can't tile them now, but I mean, eventually, a year or two down the road.

Sure, Lordofdragonss, and thank you. I can post some instructions for it. I haven't figured out how to make the oven look like it's cooking things yet, but I'm working on it. I'll It's not the most piece efficient build as near the end of the construction, I started just stacking plates, but I'll post something later today. It's attached to the wall too, so amend what you can. :)

wow dude,

this is great, classic...classic town styling.

dont be intimidated by the modular, you are very capable of the interior design aspects of the modular style.

i myself am working on a italian modular restraunt, and the only thing i can suggest is studs not on top styling as already suggested.

keep building dude.

re: try red and white checkers with the table tops

Thanks. I'm glad you like it. :)

The big thing I'm intimidated about when it comes to modular buildings is the entire idea of making the outside. With my lack of windows coupled with my lack of architectural creativity, the whole idea just scares me. Also, I used most of the smooth tile that I own on this building already and am not exactly eager to scrap it. It's my first. I remain proud. :)

I'd be curious to see your modular at some point. Maybe I'll get some ideas. :)

Those would be adorable tables. I don't have the red for it though. 'Tis a pity. Those would be the cutest tables ever.

yeah i dunno whether to use dark red and light tan or straight red and white just yet.

it takes me for ever to get anything done on my modular designs, i have finished the kitchen so far, with a grill rangehood and vents and a fridge and a small stovepot pizza oven with a small stack of wood :p

That sounds awesome. I look forward to seeing it, no matter how long it takes for you to finish. :)

Here's a link to the photo set with the instructions for building the pizza oven, Lordofdragonss. Again, the pictures aren't great, but I'm inexperienced. I don't know how to get the lighting right or to get the camera to focus correctly. Regardless, here's the link:

Many thanks! I know, pictures are not great ( too muchflash, but you use a backgroud- and this is a great point to start! many people forget about this. Next step: Get better lighting and make photo

s without flash. can't wait too see how this Moc will evolve!

I actually don't use flash. It must be my light adjustment. The only good adjustable lighting I have is a regular desk lamp, so it might take a while, but I'll find some way to light this stuff better. :)

I need the help of forum goers. I need an external opinion. I'm modding Small Car with my limited car pieces to make a delivery van. My only problem right now is the roof. Which do you prefer?

Over the past 9 hours, I've made a considerable dent in my to do list. To be perfectly honest, I think this might just be my finished product. Let me show you some changes along with some new treats.

Here's a 360 view of the restaurant in its new environment.

Added some wall hangings. One under the stairs (not pictured), the other behind male customer, then the other behind the female customer. Apparently the place likes maps and exploration.... Lego needs to release more art. :P

6058052368_1f4254e2d2_z.jpg

6058052988_642df158db_z.jpg

I tiled the upstairs railings and stairs leading up to the top level. I also tiled the sink and the oven inside the restaurant to make them smooth. Made the oven look like it was heating the pizza. No pics of any of that though.

6057509559_bc21b783d3_z.jpg

The biker/gang member, Acid Burn, waits inside for his pizza.

6058053728_2f6506d243_z.jpg

The pizza delivery boy walks out of the door towards his van to deliver the pizza to a hungry, lazy, home customer.

6058055204_a7b8194951_z.jpg

Gaylord Sharp and his wife Eldelina are walking to the opera house to enjoy the finer things in life, as they do so however, they visit some of the more disgusting aspects of it, i.e., trashcans and rats.

6057508025_234370a78b_z.jpg

An attractive woman walking down the sidewalk catches Joe Cool's attention.

6058056830_1036d0a6ce_z.jpg

As he slows down to take a good look at this newfound beauty, the man in the car behind him gets a bit angry about the traffic holdup and begins to tailgate.

6058058186_e6493fb8cc_z.jpg

A better look at the bit of the side-parking lot that will be shown in this MOC. Acid Burn's motorcycle, a smart car, and the pizza delivery van all parked.

6057510763_3fff70fb1f_z.jpg

The dog and child run away from Mom and Pop into the mass of greenery next to the restaurant.

Any comments, criticisms, and other such things about my finished MOC are welcome. I'd love to hear what you all have to say.
