StoutFiles Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 As with my previous Hoth MOC, this is again limited to a 4 ft. by 1 ft. space and is about incorporating the TLG sets. This display uses the following sets: - 8038 Battle of Endor (2) - 7956 Ewok Attack (3) Extra pieces include grass pieces, green plates, and assorted brown pieces. The goal was to capture both Paploo's bike theft and the Rebel's initial takeover of the shield bunker. The tree is cut short, I'll explain why later. "I'm afraid our furry companion has gone and done something rather rash." - C3P0. The bikes are sitting on transparent pieces and can be picked up if needed. A lot of the tree pieces were from Ewok Attack, which was great for tree parts but not a very tall tree. Still needed a lot of extra brown pieces to get this height though. The AT-ST's are free from other pieces to be easily moved and reoriented. Threepio and Artoo can do nothing to stop the legion of Empire troops. Luckily, Wicket went to get help. I increased the size of the bunker, made it a tad longer. A couple overhead shots. It's too bad I have to repeat Ewok's, but with only 5 different kinds it's inevitable. And here it is on the shelf. Now you see why the tree height cut off, that's as tall as I can make it. I plan on adding a forest background poster/painting when I finish the other shelves. Hope you all like it. Quote
Churchill Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Stoutfiles, I like the way you do these shelf MOCs. They combine several good things- some MOCing, a way to display sets, and a way to group sets. I'm going to try to do something similar with my Hoth sets. I think these will help encourage people to put things together in creative ways utilizing the space you have. Quote
Mr Man Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Very nice display StoutFiles it really does feel like Endor. I had a thought about trying the same thin but only using TLG sets (7127, 7128, 7139, 7657, 7956, and 8038) and some green bases. I think I prefer this to your Hoth one, it feels more like a display whereas Hoth feels more like a diorama. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 These are really nice shelf displays. The only thing I don't really like is the exposed wood beneath the walkers. I know you wanted them to be easily movable, but maybe covering that up in tan plates to represent the clearing around the bunker from Jedi would make it look better. Quote
Lobot Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Very nice StoutFiles! I especially like the forest floor & the amount of detailing that you added to it My only thought is that the tree looks a bit ‘blocky’ (and yes, I do realise that lego has limitations! ); have you seen the versions by Brickplumber? I’d like to replicate one eventually, but I guess they require a lot of brown bricks! Quote
mutley777 Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Very nice setup! I really like the extended bunker and the tree looks very good too. Like some others have said it would be nice to have the whole shelf setup on baseplates. Quote
M<0><0<DSWIM Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Really really cool, man! I love how those simple grass pieces can add so much to the "Endor Look". That tree came out pretty cool too. Quote
Ceroknight Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 (edited) Amazing display for sure! I love the Endor feel everywhere. However I think it would have looked better if the stormtroopers were in a circle surrounding them rather then just being lined up straight Edited August 17, 2011 by ceroknight Quote
