mostlytechnic Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 My wife and I will have a weekend in Chicago in mid-Sept. I know there are 3 Lego stores there - what's the best? We have a Lego store locally, so I'm mostly interested in the PAB wall... looking for interesting parts for a large train layout. The wall here is smallish and mostly 2x4 bricks. I want plants, curves, anything interesting like that. So if I can only hit 1 store, which should it be? We'd mostly likely visit on Sunday afternoon, if that makes any difference. Quote
Modulex Guy Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Schaumburg is the best for PaB by far. "Stash2Sixx" works there. and in Woodfield mall, there is lots to see. ...and across the street is the LEGOLand Discovery Center. If you want stuff that is in stock, Orland Park sits on a lot of stock since its not as busy as a Store. Northbrook is also a good store too. Quote
ie10421 Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Woodfield and Northbrook both have about the same size wall, but inventory will vary. Woodfield turns their inventory over faster than Northbrook does. I haven't been to the new Downtown store yet, but i hear it is located next to the American Girl store. The old Downtown store did not have a great PAB wall. The stores are fairly spreadout, and traffic can be terrible, I'd pick the store based on where in Chicago I was actually staying. Quote
mostlytechnic Posted August 15, 2011 Author Posted August 15, 2011 Thanks, that's exactly the info I was looking for. We'll be staying by the airport and going downtown for some medical stuff on Monday, so none are particularly close (considering I can hit my local store in about 20 min from home) but we're planning to visit Harvest Bible Chapel on Sunday morning - and the Schaumburg store is close to that church, so we'll probably stop there on Sunday. Harvest Bible Chapel... though I was never a regular attender there, I have lots of connections with that place. A college buddy was the worship director there for several years, HBC was the primary church for sending my sister overseas as a missionary.... several other things. Enjoy your time there. Chris Thanks. I've never been there, but I've heard James MacDonald speak before. One time was in college - a tornado came through the town and knocked out the power. He preached to a room of 3500 people with no amplification or light other than a small flashlight for an hour. Crazy night... Quote
Stash2Sixx Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I don't work a lot of Sundays, I try to keep it as my one regular day off...for riding, family, and socializing. However, if I have a better idea of when you are visiting I can try to prep for it. Would you like to know more about what's available at Woodfield? You should send me a pm and I can get you some more info. I've got a big Autism Ride in Mid-September so that's one I really hate to miss. Let me know more. Quote
