Francis stumbles into the hall, weary from a long journey.

"Ah" he sighed "it's good to be back."

He glanced at the board, only to see there were no quests available, and dropped himself into a chair.

"Oh, alright, fine, I'll sign up."

Erik glances at the minstrel. "Alright fine? She seemed keen to come at first." He mutters into his cup.

He stands up to greet the hunter. "Well, we just got our sixth sign-up, but it's my first time signin' up for the fields, and I believe I've misunderstood how it works. So by all means, put your name on the list. "

Alexander nodded "Thank you, sir." he sign up his name under Erik Tyrvarr's group "I hope to be skilled enough for your group, they seems all heroes with quite a story behind."

Rather tiredly, Lind wandered back into the silent Hall, only pausing to tack up a piece of paper on the board before slumping into a seat at the bar.

For Sale or Trade:

Last Wish Powder (Turns the targeted enemy into an undead that will join a necromancer’s army automatically after being defeated; if there is no necromancer present, the enemy will be fully revived as an undead type and will have to be fought again, but it won’t drop anything; cannot be used on demon, holy, ethereal or mechanical enemies.)

Wanted:

Black Knight's Armour (SP:4, protects from stunned-effect; suitable for black knights; bodywear.)

Swift Boots (Changes HIDE into STEAL & HIDE, allowing the wearer to steal gold equal to the target’s level if it carries gold in addition to hiding; suitable to rogues; footwear.) Costs 60 gold.

Karie reentered the hall after taking some time to be with her daughter, nearly bumping into an elven woman.

"Sorry, didn't see you there. Looking for someone?"

Early morning, at Heroica Hall.

"Momma, I'm back!"

heroicanpc-scheherazade.jpg

"Sham Poo, my prodigal son! I haven't seen you since the Decamon Tournament! Where have you been mooching this time?"

heroicanpc-shampoo.jpg

"Well, I tried to make some profit down in Fenario, but it was all so dark and gloomy, and the people there were all kinds of crazy... Gotta keep trying new endeavours. I heard some old lady talk about Heartland in the city, might try it out next."

heroicanpc-scheherazade.jpg

"You're impossible, Sham! When will you give up on your foolish ventures and return to take care of your old mother?"

heroicanpc-shampoo.jpg

"Not until I've scraped up enough gold to buy you that Inn you want and deserve, momma. I just want the best for my dearest mother!"

One of the doors then opened.

heroica-orcs2.jpg

heroicanpc-kukulkan.jpg

"I see your son is back, Scheherazade."

heroicanpc-shampoo.jpg

"Kukulkan! Mind if I ask you..."

heroicanpc-kukulkan.jpg

"No, Sham, I am still not your father, no matter how many times you ask me about it."

heroicanpc-shampoo.jpg

"No, no! Bummer, but no! I wanted to ask you about the Orcish Liberation Movement. How's it going?"

heroicanpc-kukulkan.jpg

"Things have taken a turn for the worse in this damned city, chap. Orcish slavery was already almost abolished some years ago before things tensed up. Many of our kind were forced to return under the servitude of the wealthy families to make a living, and in no time contracts were conveniently forgotten and orcish servants were declared as property again. To make things worse, many of our kind have returned to Baltarok already, leaving me with very few allies to help to free those who were recaptured. I have had to look for new allies."

heroicanpc-scheherazade.jpg

"What do you mean? Don't you have all the help you need in the Heroicans?"

heroicanpc-kukulkan.jpg

"They want to get paid, and gold is a resource I don't have. Few people know it, but Heroica is piss-poor. The sponsors have been abandoning us one by one, turning their assets to prepare for a civil war in the city. Just look at the quest board - there have been no new quests for a long time. These are desperate times, Scheherazade, and desperate times call for desperate measures."

heroicanpc-shampoo.jpg

"Well, I just have to make enough profit to help everyone, then! Good luck, Kukulkan!"

heroicanpc-kukulkan.jpg

"Good luck to you too, Sham. Ash Tarok ezka dir droog."

The orcs then went their separate ways.

Not really, I was just wondering where everyone is. my name is Nerwen. I don't think I've met you before?

Karie laughs.

"Well, sometimes it's nice when this hall is quiet and everyone's not shouting over each other. Name's Karie, Karie Alderflask-Cour. The pleasure's mine." Karie extends her hand to shake Nerwen's. As she does so, she overhears the conversation going on between the veteran and a few of the other orcs. She furrows her brow as she waits for Nerwen to respond.

"So, who are you looking for?"

I walk aimlessly through the streets of Eubric, my life feeling void and meaningless in light of recent happenings.

I try to reason things over in my head, explain away my failings, list my good deeds...it doesn't help.

My mind wanders to Heroica Hall, but I can't bring myself to go back.

What can I possibly have to go back to? I am ruined as far as Heroica is concerned.

I seriously contemplate leaving, going back, never setting my feet on Eubrican soil again...

...but just as those thoughts enter my mind, and my hand instinctively reaches into my bag of holding to pull out the exact number of coins needs to pay my fair on the next vessel out of Eubric, my hand feels something else instead, something that did not belong in my bag of holding.

What in the world?

I pull the item out to find Thormanil's Medal of Glory.

I can't catch a break, can I?

I think but not with those exact words.

"The last thing I want to be known as is both a traitor and a thief. Perhaps I can steal into the hall and place the medal somewhere when no one is looking," I tell myself.

Slowly, I make my way back to the hall, holding the medal out in front of me as if drawing power from it.

Half stumbling, I enter the hall and look around.

"I miss it already," I mumble.

The black knight looked up and saw the monk enter. Something...something about him seemed familiar, although he couldn't quite place it...

The former rogue quietly stepped across the room, and made a gesture with his hand, as if he was tipping a non-existent hat.

"Pardon the interruption, but have we ever met?"

Skrall's ears perked at Kukulkan's description of current events. It had been a long time since he had ventured into the Hall wondering if he might have some impact on the state of the green skins, it would seem the opportunity might soon present itself. The ogre ordered another ale nodding in greeting to both Nerwen and Karie before taking a seat at the bar.

I look up, surprised that the first person approaching me was not immediately recognizable to me.

"Perhaps, perhaps not. Then again, what does it matter in the greater scheme of things."

I look around for Thormy.

"Chance meetings can crown kings, or dethrone warlords." The black knight shrugged. "Care for a drink? You sound rather depressed..."

Nerwen hears more heroes enter but speaks again to the painted lady.

I wanted to speak to some of the heroes I just quested with. I wondered where Masters Ablesword and Holla are. I wish to punch Monk Pretzel in the face. I am curious as to who else might join the Sungold alliance. If anyone is staying neutral, I might offer them bright polish at decent price. And I desire to speak to Lord Boomingham and his guardian angel also.

She acknowledges Skrall's nod and picks up her cup again.

"Monk Pretzel- what? Well, I was hoping to speak to him as well. If you're going to rough him up, at least leave him in a somewhat conscious state." Karie stated, sounding concerned. "I'd ask why, but I guess it's none of my business." Karie grumbles at the mention of Lawrence. She was beginning to think that Nerwen might be chummy with the inebriated porker. "You'll have to ask someone else about Lawrence's whereabouts, as I don't really get along with him."

"One must never attempt to drown sorrow with drink...sorrow is an expert swimmer. I am actually just looking for the half-giant, Thormanil and I will be on my way. Do you know of his whereabouts?"

I notice Nerwen talking with another musician and decided to give them a wide berth.

My mind plays tug of war over whether I should go apologize or not.

Perhaps it is my duty to tell them the "good" news.
