Bricksandparts Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Thanks for clearing this up, but now I feel sad. Only two measly artifacts? Quote
CMP Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Thanks for clearing this up, but now I feel sad. Only two measly artifacts? If you get more, I'm sure there's more than enough Heroes who would pay a good price for them. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Sorry to ask the hard questions Masked Builder, but I wanted to know all of our options. I am curious however as to why we would fail the quest should the centaur die, as our mission was to catch the poachers and not kill any of the wild boar? Quote
Sandy Posted November 20, 2011 Author Posted November 20, 2011 Sorry to ask the hard questions Masked Builder, but I wanted to know all of our options. I am curious however as to why we would fail the quest should the centaur die, as our mission was to catch the poachers and not kill any of the wild boar? It's a valid question. I'm not against surprise twists in a quest, but I think it would be fair to let the players know in advance if some of their actions will cause the quest to fail. On the other hand, QMs shouldn't be afraid to let the players fail a quest and make wrong decisions (I'm looking at you, Jebediahs ). It just adds to the suspence of the game if you can't always win. Jebediahs Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 On the other hand, QMs shouldn't be afraid to let the players fail a quest and make wrong decisions (I'm looking at you, Jebediahs ). It just adds to the suspence of the game if you can't always win. First you think a fight is unwinnable because you don't have a mage and now this? I can't win with you. If you didn't pick up the ant I'm sure there'd have been even more whining and I didn't want to hear it. You'll have enough to worry about in the final fight. If you truly wanted suspense, you'd have told your party to put down the compass. That thing's been telling you where to go the whole time. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Jebs, I think Sandy was referring to the conclusion to the Donny Dozenhands Quest and how your party had the freedom to make the choice that "failed" the quest. With Masked's Centaur battle it purely comes down to dice roles rather than any discussion or consensus by the party. Quote
Scorpiox Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 I have to say, I love your quest Jeb and I don't care about if it's too easy. It doesn't seem that way to me. Quote
Quarryman Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 One thing I really want when I have time to host (a) quest(s) is battles where the players have to think to win, not just use brute force. It should be possible, and I think I have an almost working solution. So, potential players, be afraid, be very afraid. Quote

Though my system is probably different from yours. Quote

CMP Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 I probably won't be hosting a Quest, but I've had an idea for one large boss, but there's 3 different section, as in, each part acts like a singular entity. Of course, head would be the most dangerous, but if you kill it first, the rest dies, etc. Quote

Example: Bandit Leader Special: Command. Allows the leader to take command and concentrate all of the Bandit's attacks on one, randomly chosen Hero. That's just an example of course, the actual boss battle wouldn't be with Bandits. Quote

VERY, VERY, VERY close battle. I thought we were goners. Quote
Sandy Posted November 20, 2011 Author Posted November 20, 2011 Guys, Jeb knows exactly what I was talking about. I think you should take feedback for what it is, not as a personal attack. I do apologize if I hurt your feelings, though. You've done a great job with your quest, but don't think it couldn't be improved (I know well that none of my quests have been perfect). As a QM you shouldn't take the side of the players, nor go against them, just place challenges in front of them. If the players whine about a decision they made wrong, let them whine - it's their own fault they are in that situation. Anyway, I have to apologize to everyone, but the end of the sign-ups for my upcoming quests have been postponed to Tuesday the 22nd. I've just got too busy couple of days ahead of me, so I cannot start the quests yet. Sorry for that, but I'm sure you can stand to wait a couple more days. Quote

Well they are part of the bandits I just felt like giving them names. Had you guys not defeated him I would have given you another way out of him not killing the centaur. Quote

Then Namyrra might have a decent chance of making it back to Eubric in time. Quote
Masked Builder Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Well, I for one thinks that's great news! Then Namyrra might have a decent chance of making it back to Eubric in time. Yep this is your last battle. I estimate that you'll be back in the hall by Monday. Quote
Zepher Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 My delayed Quest means I won't make it back in time to fight Pirates. Oh well! I'm really banking on getting into the The Lion's Share. Come on good Hinckwell reputation! Quote

Zepher Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Every time I enter a building someone will attack me. Lots of random 1 on 1 fights for Boomingham . Quote

I'd suggest you use some roleplaying to get to this face, but Boomingham's 'winning smile' simply can't be replaced. I have a character that uses that face. One of the Hinckwell marines, though, so you'd be safe with that one. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Dak's doing well in Quest#13 I am pleased that you are reading all the dialogue, as there is a lot more of that than actual descriptions. Hope everyone is enjoying it. Quote

Hope everyone is enjoying it. Really? I thought for sure we were supposed to go to the shops before the mine. Anyway, I'm having a lot of fun, I'm glad I got on this Quest. ANd since I died in Mafia School, I have more time to play Heroica! Still hoping for that 'sleepy kid' CM hair in black though, it would make my character look much more like a Rogue. Quote
