The odds were not on your side this time, since Dyric was knocked out immediately and you don't have that many healing items with you. At least you have the option to flee at any point.

Hm, alright, I forgot that we had Dyric, actually, and that he was knocked out right away, I guess the battle would have been possible if he was there .

A note on the Slim battle, while the odds may not seem in your favor, a single mug from Guts would knock out one of the Slims and a miss from Dak would provide an opportunity for Guts to finish off the other one, so probable, no; possible, yes.

@Sandy:

Did you take a look at my Expert Job Class index/discussion thread? How does it look?

I saw it, and while it's nice to see the information in one place, I don't think it was absolutely necessary to open up that topic. The discussion seems to have settled down already, anyway. But there's no harm done, if people still want to send in their ideas for public evaluation, they can use your thread by all means.

I will hold the final say in which expert classes will get into the game, anyway.

Naturally.

Would the thread be able to be indexed in the Heroica RPG index?

Since most of the suggested classes are not officially in the game (at least yet), I'm not willing to index the topic at this point. I don't want to confuse people to think that the list represents what they will get.

I meant so that people would be able to find it and post Class ideas there, rather than "spam" the QM Lounge.

I wasn't threatening to kick Flipz out, I just warned him not to keep sticking his nose to other people's quests. The players were supposed to figure out this connection themselves, so I think it's rude for an outsider to reveal it for them. :sceptic:

And spoiler tags don't help much if there's no mention about what the content spoils.

I agree with posades. Disappointed? It sounds like your a Jedi, and he's some sort of student. "Sticking his nose in?" Can we not read other quests?

Actually, the players could figure it out themselves, as they DID say what the spoilers contained:

OK, I'll give a big hint (aren't I nice? ) :

EDIT: Because apparently the hint itself is too spoilery.

No one from the quest commented or saw the post before it was edited into spoilers.

I think I've got it!

If someone says he gets it, why would any of the people on the quest read it? It would be their fault.

Now yes, it's not someone's job to drop hints, but I don't see the problem with the spoilers.

Look at it this way: If you were on a story/mystery oriented quest, you would not like the ending/solution spoiled, would you?

I for one read this entire topic, and I found the "hint", or at least the connection was apparant enough to figure it out, and not everyone said what was in the spoilers. Plus: opening spoilers is very tempting . And I think the players actually did read it, at least Flipz's hint, since it was not in spoilers for quite some time.

I may be in the minority, but I would be fairly annoyed if a quest I was on or a quest I was QM'ing was spoiled in a way like this, so please guys, if you figure it out, it's cool to send a message to the QM of the quest saying you figured it out, they appreciate it, it shows other people are actively involved, following the quest, which is very cool, but please don't discuss/give "hints" like this. I'm sure that will be very much appreciated!

Opening spoilers ARE tempting! But the thing that actually stated what was not supposed to be spoiled.... was in spoilers. I understand where Sandy is coming from, I just don't understand why spoilers are bad... there's a reason why we have them. Just like when we were talking about Flipz's and Tanma's WOT, just scroll right past them.

So what would the consequence be of him continuing to "stick his nose" in other quests?

And I agree, if people are going to use spoiler tags then they should reference "Regarding Quest #31...

" or something similar.

Like I said, I'm not a fan of spoiling anything for anyone else either; for me anything that would be considered a "spoiler" would be put in the spoiler tags. I didn't explicitly read whatever Flipz wrote about the quest because it didn't pertain to me, but if it wasn't in spoilers before then it should have been to begin with. I don't think putting things in spoilers is ruining the vision of any QM or player of a certain quest.

With the negative stuff out of the way (I hope), I have an actual question:

Are the Heroes actually weak against darkness damage (do they receive double damage?). I am inclined to say no, actually, for several reasons:

It would balance the Arena/PvP more, at the moment I don't think anyone would really stand a chance against most heroes with darkness weapons.

We already have some heroes that are not strictly humanoid.

There is no real sense in it actually being in there for Quests.

What do other people think?

Posted

I've been going by the idea that all heroes are "humanoid" but elemental attacks against them only matter if they have something like "immune to fire" on an item. In that case an Elemental Fire attack would matter.

Yes, that makes sense, but what I propose is this: all elements are neutral against a Hero to start with, but obviously there can be modifiers like that.

That's what I assume everyone's been going with most of the time, but I guess it could use clarifying.

I think that it really decides on what the character is. Sorrow is an undead, Nagure is a Beast, Atramor is a vermin, etc.

Naw. Everyone in Heroica has base stats that are identical. I'm okay with all heroes being hurt by darkness magic, it makes sense, fits with the mechanics of the game, makes my arena fights easier, and is what we've been doing up until this point.

I was actually thinking about this the other day, and imagined Thothwick would be a humanoid/beast combination.

Y'know, Thothwick should really meet Althior one of these days, I'm sure they'd get along just great!

Anyone know where the quote De'kra just referenced? It wasn't a perfect quote as he doesn't know all the words.

Also, I should have expected these kind of twists, given the Quest Masters. No offense meant of course, but I should have expected at least some of this.

My opinion is to keep it simple and keep all heroes elemental neutral. Also what was the final rule on how scrolls work? Elphaba is now gone so I can't find the exact rules that were settled on.

Yeah, this was discussed before. Anyone remember when the skeleton joined? I believe Sandy decided that all heroes are affected by the same weaknesses as any "normal" human.

I think that all Heroes should be considered Humanoid. That being said, my 30+ Class is immune to Darkness, but weak to Light. Perhaps Heroes should be considered weak to Darkness, unless the Class description says otherwise.

50/50 chance of them working, except for the Scroll of Confusion. I try to keep the treasury updated on this sort of stuff...but I have to ask the same question about the Eye of the Beholder.
