Flipz Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 (edited) So, my schedule for the next few months is finally falling into place - will be busy but not too busy to start hosting again. Who is waiting around for a quest? Are there folks who need questing? I have two very short ones in the pipeline, and then maybe my finale in the October-ish (no commitment to that!). October?! I gotta have more downtime than that... I'm still working behind the scenes on my duo of Quests, I'm just still waiting to see the fallout from a few ongoing excursions. Soon as those drop, I'll likely set them in motion. Edited July 29, 2016 by Flipz Quote

KotZ Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Five years? Wow. I'm glad we've been going this long. It's great questing with all of you talented creative people. Quote
Yzalirk Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Wonder what the news will be . Can someone help me out with a picture of a minifig? PM me for further information. Quote
Comrade Commander Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Nice, 5 years is impressive. Hopefully there are many more to come Thanks for all who have helped make it fun so far! Quote
Palathadric Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Soryx! Absolutely great to see him again. And here's to hoping the party don't tear him to shreds. Quote
Sandy Posted August 10, 2016 Author Posted August 10, 2016 IMPORTANT NOTICE! It pains me to announce this upon our fifth anniversary, but I am stepping down as the manager of this game soon. I haven't really found enough time for the game in the last year or so, and it is not what this game or it's fantastic player base - you guys - deserve. My personal life has seen some drastic changes (mostly for the better, luckily), and my life has turned much busier than it was before. Dragonator, the moderator of the games section, is currently looking for a replacement, but if one cannot be found, it is up to him to decide the fate of Heroica RPG. I personally will not be hosting any more quests after the current one is done, but I will see the anniversary events through. They will include: - Annual Lottery, where people have a chance to win in-game items, including the coveted Anniversary Medal. - Wiki Contest, which encourages people to contribute to the official Heroica RPG Wiki (thanks for the idea, Flipz!) - Second Faction Event for all factions that will lead to the culmination of the main story: the War of Eubric. What happens after those is anyone's guess at this point. I personally am not going anywhere, LEGO is still my dearest hobby that I have invested uncountable amount of time and money into, but it is time for me to do something else with LEGO than this game. So this is not a goodbye, this is just an end of some sort of an era. Quote
Palathadric Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Wow! Not sure what to say, but thank you for all the time that you have put into this thus far and for starting it and keeping it running for so long. You're a star! Quote
KotZ Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Oh man. It's sad to see this happen but I'm glad for everything you've done for the community with this game. It's been great questing under you and QMing your characters. If the game (hopefully continues) will you still go on quests or are you going to slowly phase out of Heroica? On a serious note, would it be reasonable to have two or so GMs so one doesn't get burned out? It's amazing how you've kept this going for five years and not gone crazy from the amount of work. You truly are the best. Quote
K-Nut Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Like others have said, I don't really know what to say. I'll probably right some more later when I have a bit of time, but I'm sure all of us can't do enough to thank you for the experience you've let us all share over the last five years. It makes me very sad to see you step down, but I know you'll go on to do great things, and we'll (hopefully) manage without you. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) Five years ago I had never played a single RPG. Heroica RPG was my first introduction into the exciting hobby and I now regularly host and play in several RPG's outside of Eurobricks. It gives me an out for my creative side and I will never forget the excitement of having my very first character walk through the doors of Heroica Hall. None of this would have ever been possible without you, Sandy! Your determination to see this game through five years has been inspiring to watch. You have helped to found a community so richly diverse that even should Heroica RPG end, I'm sure would continue on in some form or fashion. As a group we have seen our members go through all aspects of life, from loss of family members, to births of children, weddings, graduations, job losses, cross country moves, you name it and we wouldn't have this community to share those things with without you, Sandy. The world of Heroica RPG stands as a testament to the amazing process of collaboration and this ship has been helmed by an incredible captain. From the story lines, to the game mechanics, to the characters, to the arbitration between arguing members, Sandy, you have created a work of art that you should be proud of and all of us have been impacted in some way by the hours you have poured into this community. In whatever way you continue moving forward with us, we will all be incredibly grateful for everything you have shared. LEGO as we all know stands for "play well", and you have indeed led us to do just that. Well done! Edited August 10, 2016 by Waterbrick Down Quote
Yzalirk Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Wow, Sandy, I really do not know what to say. I mean, I was not expecting for you to step down as the manager of Heroica. Though my time here has been rather short, I know all of us are thankful for your dedication to Heroica and making it such an awesome game with such an amazing community that we all cherish greatly. Hopefully someone is chosen to pick up the reigns and continue Heroica. I am psyched about the anniversary events, especially the Wiki contest. Quote
Kintobor Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 I suppose the first thing to say is thank you, Sandy. To have one person design an entire web game and have it run relatively smoothly is somewhat of a small miracle, let alone one where community input is critically important. I honestly don't know how you managed it. Congrats on a well deserved retirement, Sandy, you deserve it. Quote
Endgame Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Thanks for all of the years of hard work, Sandy. Quote
MysticModulus Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Although I haven't been onboard for mor than a year I was (and am) truly impressed by this community and the game. I haven't enjoyed rpg much since my tabletop-days (and PC-wise since Baldur's Gate II to be frank). It is an impressive feat to have created the foundation for all this and to have the stamina yo manage it for all these years. You seem to be in possession of some powerful "sisu" . Many thanks and good luck to you in all the new projects you undoubtly will be starting! Quote

LEGO as we all know stands for "play well", and you have indeed led us to do just that. Well done! I'm just going to quote this and add that watching this game grow from those first three quests into a sprawling lore that could rival any traditional tabletop RPG has been a spectacular experience, and contributed greatly to my interest in fiction writing. I can hardly believe the game's been going this long, and with the guiding hand of the person that founded it, too. There's countless people and stories who've come and gone over the course of the game, but the constant has always been the world and the way it works, so I hope whoever fills your place is at least half as good at corralling a mob of players rioting over rogue nerfs. Thanks for all the amazing work you've done, Sandy. Quote
Asphalt Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 I came late to the game, but I have thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the journey. Than you for making this real for all of us. Quote
