Dfenz Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 At last weekend's Dun Laoghaire (Dublin) model railway exhibition some of brick.ie members had a Lego display on show for the first time. For the occasion I created a replica of Dublin's Heuston train station. Some of the Irish trains were created by'Lostcarpark'. Enjoy Overview of Heuston Station Side view of the station Heuston awaits its trains Platform 1 at Heuston Rush hour at Heuston station Dublin Quote
L@go Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 That is impressively huge, and hugely impressive. I never cease to be amazed by people who dare to undertake such enormous projects. It might be better off in the Train Tech section, though :) Quote
drevim Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Train layout is awesome, and the city buildings are amazing. Well done!! Just a great layout all around. Quote
pdxa4 Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Impressive model, love the detail... I'm very familiar with this station as I grew up in Ireland, and used this many times... Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Incredible giant MOC! I can't believe to see so many details ...I wonder how many pieces are used here Wonderful layout Quote
AussieJimbo Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Wow. Awesome station, Dfenz. Top job. :classic: Quote

lightningtiger Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 The train station is one of the finest I have viewed on Eurobricks, a total on design and layout.....makes me ! Fantastic work 'Dfenz' and Brick On ! Quote
cimddwc Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 What can I say... I simply agree with the others. :) Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Fantastic station, how long did it take to build? Are there any more shots of the trains, maybe side on views so we can see the details of them and the platforms? Quote
dpa Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Have to say as somebody very familiar with this station, it is excellent. It is a brilliant model. Well done. Quote
Dfenz Posted August 9, 2011 Author Posted August 9, 2011 Fantastic station, how long did it take to build? Are there any more shots of the trains, maybe side on views so we can see the details of them and the platforms? The station itself took about 6 months to build, a few hours per evening, a bit more at weekends when I didn't have to do the gardening or other household activities. It was a bit of a mad rush to finish it for last week and even now I know where I want to make some minor improvements. As this is the town forum (I'm not sure whether the train tech forum is just for trains) I didn't want to post too many pictures of the trains themselves (not all of which are mine) but there are more photos in the image gallery on brick.ie and on flickr if anyone is interested. At the risk of getting this thread moved to the train tech forum here is one pic of one of the Irish Rail locomotives which I may have posted here previously as it was built last year. Quote
Hinckley Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I'm really amazed at this, Dfenz. Thanks for sharing it with us. I've blogged it. Quote
KIERAN2400 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 What a fantastic creation Dfenz! My dad drives the the Dublin - Cork Intercity trains into/ out of Heuston and He thought it looked fantastic too! He never thought you could make creations like that with Lego! I am dissapointed I did not know about this exibition, I would of loved to have gone there. Quote
22kane Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Now that is amazing! Awesome just awesome. Quote
Geertos13 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 That is one hell of a MOC It's truly amazing! And huge on top of that! I am not too familiar with the real thing, so I went to look up some pictures and it's pretty close!! I love the colors you threw in, as the real thing isn't as cheerful as that! I like that you didn't just stop at the station but actually built a bit around it! That's cool! Then again, when one makes such a project, we can expect to have more then just one building! Your attention to detail, your building techniques and style truly make this one of the best train stations I've seen so far! I am not that much in the train forums as I'm more into Licensed sets, but I now realise what I miss when not visiting it! Exited to see some more of this and of your work! Quote
Dfenz Posted August 17, 2011 Author Posted August 17, 2011 What a fantastic creation Dfenz! There is another exhibition planned for the October bank holiday weekend organised by the South Dublin Model Railway Club at which we will be displaying a layout. Check-in on brick.ie for more details. Quote
HighFlyer Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Having been to this very train station and travelled on some of those trains, I must say the details and reality of this MOC is wonderful! Great job! Quote
martyboy70 Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 To see just how incredible a job Dfenz has made of this compare this : with this: An absolutely phenomenal build. Quote
The Undo Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 This is an incredible layout. Just wow! Quote
Dfenz Posted October 31, 2011 Author Posted October 31, 2011 We had Heuston Station out again at the recent South Dublin Model Railway Exhibition, this time in a modified layout with the addition of a tunnel to brighten things up a bit. There is actually a tunnel in reality but not so close to the station. Alfenz did some station-mastering. Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Nice to see this AWESOME creation is still in one piece, I didn't know Lightning McQueen visited Ireland ! Brick On Show On 'Dfenz' ! Quote
