Lyichir Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Our hapless crim's are at it again in a NEW Lego City movie.....Gold Run Just as hilarious as the other LEGO City mini-movies. I especially liked the 8-bit video game segment. Quote
slovakiasteph Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 I was never interested in Forest Police, Fire, and Mining sets... till I watched that video! The video game part made me laugh! Quote
Graysmith Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 New City Mining set on Toys'R'Us.com!! Mining Quad Bike, set number 30152. Lets hope GRogall can high-res this soon. Here's a direct link to the hi-res image on the TRU site. Cute little set, though it seems odd that this is (supposedly?) a polybag set when it looks more or less equivalent to the 4427 Fire ATV. sologuy369 Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 These look like some nice sets! The forest police hats are nice . Quote
romdam Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 The Garage is horrible. The security and mechanic is on the middle layer? The gas pumps look goofy. Don't even get me started on the ugly cars. And what is that thing, a tow truck?? No railings? I just think it looks bad. Granted the old version had no way for a car to "turn" to get off the elevator but geez, at least it had rails along the sides so as not to drive/walk off. Plus it just LOOKS 100 times better then this thing. Quote

Also, from the looks of it its construction is simple enough to be made modular: with more than one of the set and some modifications, you could easily make it into the Garage you were hoping for. gotoAndLego Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 They need a tire sticker for the black 2x2 tile on the front of the tan van; currently it looks like a nose and makes me think of the van from Dumb and Dumber. Quote

lightningtiger Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I actually like the van and car that has actual real looking tyres....not the over-wide ones ! Seriously I would love to know the design brief given to the designer, an old school parking garage design in Lego, but there are still holes in the design. But has Lego been any different, though it gives as AFOL's something to do.....it's called modifying a set ! Quote

lightningtiger Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 (edited) I thought you were going to say criticising. Well, I could of.....but I'm not that nasty ! Seriously though, like most of the mid-year releases in the pasts two years.....they do seem in part, half hearted at best. Though I'll be buying all the mining sets, the helicopter rescue and parking garage.....I'm hooked on City ! Edited May 22, 2012 by lightningtiger Quote
Wrinkledog Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 I dont know, its good... I think the cars would be better with doors that open... Maybe I just love the old Metro Park & Service Tower from the classic town a bit more... I do like the micro bus on this new set though Quote
Graysmith Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 I think LEGO is terrific at making 6-wide vehicles but their current style of smaller 4-wide vehicles is downright awful. Tires sticking out wide from the body, rarely any doors, just weird proportions all around.. A real sorry sight to behold, especially considering how gorgeous their 4-wide vehicles from back in the day were/are. Quote

I actually think the new 4-wides are a nice compromise between the old 4-wides and the much too big 6-wides, which were on a completely different scale than the buildings. Quote

lightningtiger Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Now finally an advent set worth buying, all those brick-bricks , wheel barrow , tools, useful minifigs with extra forest/bush fire fighters ....usually you have lots more of those fighting fires than normal city ones. Though an ATV with small slick tyres on it in the snow ? I'm buying two when they become available....one for me and one for my son.....I can do with the parts ! Quote
Graysmith Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Ooh, nice! I'm much more of a firefighter guy than a police guy so I'll definitely pick this one up even though the price is silly. Definitely digging the brick-bricks, and nice to be getting the new wheelbarrow. I'm also pretty sure those are some yellow skis attached to one of the brick walls! Quote
just2good Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 City Advent Calendar Contents: {pic} Source: Daily Brick It looks pretty cool, but I really like the amount of 1x2 brick pieces! The figures are pretty generic, though. Quote
Jay Sathe Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Has anybody seen 4207 in the wild? I have been bothering my local LEGO store almost daily, but to no avail. Quote

Funny, it's available in Europe on S@H....there is a price for Oz (but still no available yet)....but the USA - No Page Found at S@H ! Perhaps an email to Lego might give you the answer....or not. Ardelon Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 (edited) City Advent Calendar Contents: * snip image Source: Daily Brick That toy fire truck is gorgeous! More brick-bricks and a wheelbarrow, always good to have. But I wish TLG would stop giving Santa Claus the red bandana, I'd like him to have the gnome hat in red, so I could use it for French revolutionaries. Or go the whole hog and make him a proper Santa cap (and the gnome beard would fit him better too). Edited May 24, 2012 by Ardelon Quote

With the higher quality of the Collectible Minifigures leaking over into other themes, there's no excuse for why we don't have a better Santa by now. It could be done easily with Santa Yoda's torso, the new City "loot sack", and the gnome beard. The only new part he'd need is a proper hat (the bandanna is awful, but I don't think the gnome hat would be quite right either). Quote
