Jargo Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Thank you to everyone posting links. Really good of you to share your finds with those of us not so quick off the mark. Im crying right now as I have the tiniest budget imaginable but want all of the city sets. I'm really going to have to prioritise and have a vote off to see which sets I'll end up buying. Quote

Vindicare Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Next year is panning out to be another good year(sorry wallet). These City sets are no exception. Minus the fire sub-theme, which I'm not too hot on, . The crooks hideout with that ratrod! the HQ. Now I'm going to have to buy some more green baseplates to expand my city to add a forest area. Quote
Notorious Guf Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Awesome, thanks for the Hi Res photos Grogall Quote
danthaman11 Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Thanks grogall for taking the time to post all those pics. Still dissapointed that Lego decided to do another round of police and fire but excited to try out some of the new parts. It will be nice to have another fender option for cars and the 4 x 6 wedge triple curved plate is going to be available now in dark red and light bluish grey. The vehicle line looks good will definately pick up some those for my city. Quote
Canada_7 Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 (edited) Much happier with the upcoming year's city sets as opposed to this past year's City stuff. The whole police stuff they did this year just never appealed to me and the rest of it didn't really intrigue me either. Next year though...oh boy there's lotta stuff I'm interested in. Most of the forest police stuff not so much (but I do like that set 4438), but the regular city vehicles...I like. Edited October 16, 2011 by Canada_7 Quote
Jargo Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Grogall, I could kiss you right now. Thank you so much dude. Quote
SilentMode Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Check out what appears to be a new blue colour in the Recycling Truck set! Looks like there's a couple of new colours being used. I will definitely be looking to get the Car and Caravan set, having owned and being very fond of 6351 (although it's closer to 6590), and also the Garbage Truck. Maybe the Fire Plane for all those transparent 1x1 round bricks. I also want at least one of those new wheelbarrows. Quote
David Thomsen Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Thanks for the pics. It looks like the 6-wide vehicles outnumber the 4-wide vehicles now... Still no pictures of the caravan opening up, which is a shame. Are the trailer hitches the same height on all trailer-compatible vehicles? Quote
jonwil Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Looking at the high-res of the police station, I can now see that the unknown accessory I asked about earlier is in fact a walkie-talkie. Quote
President of Brick Town Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Alien Conquest Azure blue being used in the Recycling Truck. I think the new roof piece is also in the police car in the patrol car set. 2 seater! Maybe the crook want to bribe the cop to a cup of coffee? The car and caravan set looks great! We'll wait for the interior pics for more judgment. After seeing the patrol car's extra thingy stuff something I know now a better way to make a level crossing [train] without buying hard to find parts on bricklink. Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Grogall-- you're literally helping me decide how to spend money. Thanks alot! I'm in for all of the vehicle sets, most of the police, and the Fire Truck and ATV. Very cool stuff!! LOVE all the new torsos! Quote
L@go Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Fantastic new pictures, Grogall! But I'm very much missing what will probably be my favourite City set of 2012, the crooks' hideout with that wonderful hot rod. No hi-res pics of that one yet, then? Quote

After seeing the patrol car's extra thingy stuff something I know now a better way to make a level crossing [train] without buying hard to find parts on bricklink. I actually think the cans in the Recycling Truck set might actually be Medium Azure, which is lighter than Alien Conquest's Dark Azure. Both colors will be appearing in next year's Friends sets. Anyway, still kinda disappointed that the police badge has changed from the snazzy version that had been current for years, with the four-stud pattern. Of course, I'm glad that otherwise, the special "POLICE" patterns match last year's, even though these sets' color schemes tend to have heavier use of blue than last years', which favored white. Why is the Garbage Truck set covered in recycling logos? It's flat-out misleading, IMO. Finally, look at the base of the "POLICE" sign in front of the jail! It seems to be the brick piece used elsewhere, but it has no vertical grooves. This suggests to me that the piece's two sides are not identical. By alternating the sides with and without the vertical grooves, or by exclusively using the sides without the vertical grooves, you could change the look of a brick wall made with these pieces. Very fond of these sets overall. I'm not really into City, so I probably won't be buying any, but I still like to pay close attention to City since I feel it sets the standard for "real life" in LEGO, and all other themes are variations on that standard. And for the most part this upcoming wave gets my approval. EDIT: Note that the police/forest ranger torsos come in both male and female varieties! Both can be seen in the police station set! I also can't help but love the "redneck crooks", even if they're still wearing prison stripes. Hope we get more wonderful LEGO City mini-movies like this year's showing off the fun stories you can create with these sets! Edited October 16, 2011 by Aanchir Quote
Studs Not On Top Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Thanks a lot, Grogall! All of next year's City sets look great. The ones on my wishlist are the Garbage Truck and the Police Pursuit. Quote
Matn Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the high-resolution pictures! I think these new sets are awesome, I can't wait to get my hands on a few of them. The police line is very refreshing with the whole new style, those bears are great. There's a nice variety of vehicles in the new City line. I also like the fact that there are much more female figures than earlier years. Great stuff! Edited October 16, 2011 by Matn Quote
Legobrandon Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Thank you for the wonderful hi-res pictures Grogall! I don't really like the new Fire and Police sets, but I'm really liking the regular city vehicles. I'm going to be spending alot of money next year. Quote
prateek Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Look at the front lights of this! I see they learned their lesson and changed the random colours to orange to represent turn signals Quote
JopieK Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 The bricks with brick texture are remarkable! I don't think it is a sticker. Quote
Sandy Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 The bricks with brick texture are remarkable! I don't think it is a sticker. They clearly are not stickers. Yay for brick bricks! Also, as Aanchir pointed out, they might be two sided, with the other side representing "logs" instead of "bricks", though the log brick could also be a separate piece. Quote
Rick Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Also, as Aanchir pointed out, they might be two sided, with the other side representing "logs" instead of "bricks", though the log brick could also be a separate piece. I'm convinced it's the flipside of the 'brick' element (similar to what they've done with the grille brick). It's visible in the pictures that there is texture on two sides of the element and I can't imagine that being 'wasted' on the same pattern on both sides. Quote
Omicron Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 (edited) That ranger hat looks awfully familiar. And so do those yellow headlights. -Omi Edited October 16, 2011 by Omicron Quote
CMP Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Best City line yet. Honestly, the quality of the builds has skyrocketed. New parts, and the figs are fantastic. I know it's still Police and Fire, but it's a ways away from the normal City versions of those. Whoever came up with the $20 vehicles is a genius. Simply genius. 5/6 vehicles for $20 apiece. Simple, fairly easy to obtain them all, and all have something good to offer. I love the new Police and Fire Rangers, especially the new criminals. Great work, LEGO. Quote
