Edit: To avoid confusion, this is a MOC of a special unit from the Avatar: The Last Airbender cartoon.

I mentioned earlier that I was working on a project. Since I have now gotten all of the series five figures I was able to finish it.

The Rough Rhinos. The Fire Nation’s most well-known Komodo Rhino cavalry unit.

Colonel Mongke, Ogodei, Vachir, Yeh-Lu and Kahchi.

In addition to the custom faces Mongke and Ogodei also have stickers braids on the back of their heads.

But what would the Rough Rhinos be without their steeds the Komodo Rhinos.

Au natural.

Ready for battle.

I deliberately made them simple enough, that I could build 5 of them out of my spare parts.

The Rough Rhinos on their mounts, armed and ready for battle.

Adding clarifying subtitle
Posted (edited)

Oops, sorry my bad. I should have added Avatar MOC as a subtitle for the thread or something like that.

Is there some way that the staff could help me with that? As far as I remember it's not normally possible to edit the title after creation.

Edit: Maybe the Avatar wiki is of some help in this case: http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Rough_Rhinos

With all the Avatar things I have built over time I was capable of taking a few pictures of the Rough Rhinos in action.

img0570zx.jpg

Ambushing Team Avatar. Sokka isn’t too happy that he has to leave his beloved boomerang behind, and that his sleeping bag has been set on fire.

img0575pn.jpg

Tracking down Iroh and Zuko, traitors to the Fire Nation. Maybe I should make some pictures of the ostrich-horse on its own later.

Yes, both pictures are rather similar, but the Rough Rhinos only appear in three episodes, and there aren’t that many shots of them all together.

Sorry about the double post by the way.

Nice! Your custom figs are pretty good, as usual, and the rhinos aren't bad either, just a bit blocky, but oh well. Also, I think they should be a darker color. The same goes for the ostrich horse. The scenes you set up for them are nice as well, especially the one with Sokka. I just wish you would have photographed them at a lower angle.

Do you have the PoP ostriches? It would be perfect if you could take the body of one of those and build a fitting head for it! :sweet:

I know that they are rather blocky, and that dark grey would probably be a better color for them. But it is more or less intentional, because I had to build 5 of them. I don’t have enough spare dark grey bits to make five, and I made the design blocky so I wouldn’t run out of any critical pieces. I’m running a bit low on some grey pieces because I have a lot of thing built at the moment, the pirate things, the One Week house, almost all the avatar MOCs I have posted are all assembled at the moment.

I was thinking about making the ostrich-horse dark grey, but I couldn’t find the piece that holds the tail in dark grey when I was building it. I do have the Prince of Persia ostriches, but I think that that combination would end up with a nice looking body and a really blocky head if I had to build it.

I’ll see if I can make some more dynamic photos in the future.

I already have a few other things in the works, but I didn’t want to flood the forum with threads about my somewhat amateurish MOCs.

I understand. But now that you have them roughly done, you might wanna try to improve their shape a bit. If you want to.

By all means, please do! :sweet: MOCs are meant to be shared, especially such rare ones such as Avatar MOCs! If you don't want to make a new thread for each one of them, just make one thread titled "Runamuck's Avatar MOCs" and post all of them under the same topic. And don't worry, your MOCs are pretty good.
