Princess Muttonchops Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 This is awesome news. I don't know why, but to me Lego and space exploration seem to go hand in hand. It'd be cool if they could make some more of these and sell them as uber rare collector items... Quote
Jedi master Brick Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Well, this is a big launch, anyway they won't reach jupitier till 2016 . Quote
brickmack Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Oooh Galileo. Finally he won't be stuck with a not-so-good view. Wow talk about LEGO trying to expand their reach around the worl... i mean the galaxy! what next a factory on the moon to save on shipping cost Well I think right now with fuel and such it's like 15,000 USD per pound just to reach orbit, much more to get to the moon... I read this yesterday on FOX, and I love the idea. I can see these three as CMFs someday. From Mars, to Jupiter, what's next? The Sun? Neptune? The possibilities are endless. And if there are aliens, what if they mistake minifigures as the dominant species on Earth? Thanks for posting this! I think in like 2 years at current production rates minifigs will outnumber humans. Quote
Masked Builder Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 It's too bad that these are going to crash into Jupiter. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 These are too cool. I think I'll have to cobble together versions of these figures myself out of my own parts (or as close as I can get, anyway, given that the lightning and globe designs are unique to these creations). Did everyone else notice the fine detail on Galileo's jovian globe? It has the bands and even the Great Red Spot. Quote
Capt. Redblade Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 They have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and touched the plastic face of God. Just think, Lego can finally expand their market and sell their product to the aliens! Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 5 grant per figure !!!! Wouldn't it be sweet to get replicas of these... I envy these guys' awesome trip, altough I pity their inexorable fate!!! If C-3PO was with them, he would most certainly say: "We're doomed!" I'm glad the people at NASA keep their inner child On a sidenote, I wonder if there has ever been a minifigure in Antarctica. Quote
