lockdownTF Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 I'm planning on making an RC star wars clone turbo tank but I don't have the parts to make a normal steering system so I wanted to get some ideas I'm thinking about maybe building a tilt based steering system since lego clone turbo tank set turns by tilting the whole body in the direction you wanna turn it. timslegos Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 sounds interesting, do you have any pictures for clarification? tim Quote
lockdownTF Posted July 30, 2011 Author Posted July 30, 2011 not really, but basically I wanna take 8089 set leave it largely unchanged and use a pair of motors to power the wheels and rig up some sort of steering system. so ideally all the changes would be at the botom of the set Quote
DLuders Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 @ lockdownTF: You must mean an 8098 set (not an 8089 set, which is a "Hoth Wampa Cave"). The 8098 Clone Turbo Tank (seen below) won't be easy to motorize, since it looks a bit too slender in the "underbelly": Quote
lockdownTF Posted July 30, 2011 Author Posted July 30, 2011 well I got wait a few days for an extra motor two IR recievers and controller to arrive but at the moment I'm considering taking the wheels building the drive and steering system as what would basically be a seperate moc and either locking it on to the upper clone tank body or if it proves to incompatible start building it back up. not sure which yet cos I was toying with the idea of rotating sensors (those bits on the sides of the cargo hold doors) and turrets which would wind up need a allot of gear winding round itand would be virtually impossible on the orginal set without drill holes in some of the pieces my only major issue is I don't have any pieces for steering setups and I can't work out how to make motored version that wouldn't use the steering bar pieces Quote
