BrickArt!san Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 MOXA _________________________________ Modular Expandable Architecture [1] X-axis column [2] Y-axis column [3] Z-axis coulmn [4]Frame [5] Baseplate (interchangeable floor) What is it? The MOXA system is something I developed, initially for myself for building modular skyscrapers, parking garages etc. that were strong, realistic, and interchangeable. Several people asked me a while ago for more on this, so here it is: Applications: This modular building system can be used for: - Large collaborative public displays -City -Skyscrapers -Parking garages -Wide/low flats -Framework for elevated infrastructure. -Space -Tall moonbase buildings -Orbital space stations, docks etc.* -Personal displays -Any building with a small and nice looking, but strong frame -Shelfs *As the studs face every possible way with MOXA, buildings can be attached with floors that face sideways, up, and down. Advantages: -Strong -Looks nice, smooth design; no technic holes -Room for modification -Variable floor height/width/length -Center column/shaft not always necessary -Large plates can be used as floors -Baseplates can be used as floors -Easy for builders to contribute. I was thinking if this were to be used in a collaborative project, say at a convention, builders could each build a floor. Organizers of the collaborative display could build the frame then slide in the floors builders have created. I hope you enjoyed looking at this, and I hope it's helpful to some. As I said, it was initially designed for my own use, so I'm not sure if it suits everyone else's needs. Either way, I thought this would be a nice proof of concept item to upload. :-) Quote
Section8 Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 I think this idea has a lot of potential and I would like to see some more pics of how the frames are built. It would be pretty neat as a community build skyscraper. I like the idea of constructing a large parking garage in this manner with baseplates as the floors, since regular plates aren't that large and you'd probably need too many supports to hold them up. I am also interested in making one to stack my architecture sets on top of each other. Fallingwater and Farnsworth House would look pretty good on a black frame, and it can be expanded if Lego releases more sets that size. Quote
