Small Technic turntable

Hi,

I found this part on bricklink.

It's a small turntable that came with the Droid Developer Kit.

I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with it. I'm thinking of using it for several constructions where I need to have a turning axle going through a twisting construction. If it can offload an axle going through it, and at the same time hold a load without affecting the axle, it would help me a lot.

Here's a very simplified example of what I want to use it for. The blue parts symbolizes the turntable.

I do have other ways to solve this, but i think this is very neat.

Thanks for the tip.

It in deed does seem to work in the way I was hoping. I would still like someone with firsthand experience to tell me a bit of how good the connection between the parts are, and how much load it can take.

Wow if that piece actually can hold a load well it would be a great Truck trial part!

Some ideas for planetary gearboxes using this turntable (I've ordered 6).

The outer gera are supposed to be connected by axels, and you can vary the gearing by exchanging modules.

I don't know if this will work, but I'm certainly going to try it.
