ziljin Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Well if I rework the choronological release story I will probably just have them as raiders in foreign lands. I just wanted them to have a reason to stay in the strange land. I don't know about Europe but I know that they were the first europeans to discover the Americas but they only made one settlement. I do know that they did heavy raiding and looting. Wiki says they settled a little in europe. Viking Expansion Quote

They also settled in Sicily, if I'm not mistaken, and then there's of course the Danelaw in England. Mostly they adapted to the locals and over time, you could no longer tell the difference between Viking and local. Quote

And Vikings are just another Germanic tribe. The main distinguishing factors from the other Germanic tribes being they come from the north, were more pagan and are stereotyped to have horned or winged helmets. Wow. And obviously they did sea raids instead of land raids. Quote
Khorne Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 I just wanted to say that the description for the Inquisition is now up, as well. The Inquisition is a faction I invented myself, not basing it on any existing LEGO faction. It started out as a specialist counter-Necromancy organisation funded by the Crown Knights, but has since grown to be a large international organisation fight Evil in all its forms. They're a bunch of religious fanatics who are not afraid of using a bit of excessive violence in order to achieve their goals. Quote

Looks pretty non-human. Quote

That's a militant of the Order. They wear protective silver face masks, so that Vampires can't bite them . Should've mentioned that in the description too. The Inquisition has a strange affinity for large hats . Quote
ziljin Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 protective mask that is cool. Didn't respond earlier but better late than never. Hm, I might revamp my factions but its becoming increasingly warcraftish/warhammerish and I sense a lawsuit incoming lol. I guess this would be the non chronological release story. Not all of them have their backstories fleshed out. An evil magical force surges across the lands corrupting its denizens. Northmen - Vikings, They are barbarians and ferocious warriors (If they make Lego Thor/other Asgardians they will definitely be in this army!). They are the first humans of the North, and their constant warfare has impeded their cultural and technological progress. Dwarves, An ancient race that befriended the Vikings and have provided them with some technological improvements. They also have a strong resistance to magic, and have trained the Vikings and Crown Knights to resist the forces of corruption. Crown Knights, The more civilized Northmen they are humans who migrated to the North long ago and befriended the dwarves and vikings. Evil Dwarves, Despite their magic resisting nature, some have become corrupted and turned on their former comrades. Trolls, ancient enemies of the Dwarves, Vikings and recently formed Crown Knights. Western Men - Bull Knights, Barbarians of the West. (needs more fluff) Fright Knights, Corrupted men who serve their vampire overlords. Vampires, Brought into existence by magic, they are few in numbers but are incredibly powerful have the might of the Fright Knights to bolster their numbers. Eastern Men - Ninjas/Samurais - WIP might be divided into colors. I think I have a white and blue shogun. Middle Kingdom - Forestmen, Humans who have migrated to the forest seeking the knowledge and protection of the elves. Dark Forestmen, Forestmen who have lost their way and given themselves up to Corruption. Elves, Mentors of the Forestmen, they are the only beings immune to corruption. Shadow Knights - Strongest force of the Corrupted men, they attack everyone even the other Corrupted forces. Lion Kingdom - Strong kingdom organized by wealth and military purpose Crusaders - The wealthy elite that mount crusades across the corrupted men. They are backed up by the Lion Knights made out of lower classes. Royal Knights - The wealthy elite that who stay within the Lion Kingdom and defend it against external threats. They provide support to the Leo Knights when necessary. Leo Knights - The first line of defense, they are lower classmen who defend the Lion Kingdom. Lion Knights - Lower classmen that serve as attackers who accompany the crusaders. Dragon Kingdom - A powerful kingdom organized by military rank. They have befriended the Green Dragons and they are aid each other. Dragon Masters, The very elite warriors who are the keepers and protectors of the dragons, those chosen by the dragons get to ride them into battle. Black Knights, The second line of defense against their enemies. They are veteran warriors promoted from the Dragon Knights. Those who serve their kingdom well get the chance of being promoted as Dragon Masters (changing them to dragon since they have dragon shields) Dragon Knights, The rest of the military serve and protect their kingdom as the first line of defense. The best get promoted as Black Knights. (their ranks can easily be switchable). Wolfpack, Bandits who take advantage of the chaos and fill their coffers. Black Falcons - No clue Rainbow Knights - If I get another they become separate kingdoms. Quote
Gabe Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Man, this thread is wonderful - i love reading about how other ppl orginise thier lego universes and the backstories they create for thier different factions. Khorne, i'm especially inspired by yr maps and histories - amazing stuff dude! I've been loosely building and thinking along various lines about how my different factions interact, but i haven't really formalised it yet. I suppose about 14-15 of my factions are roughly contemporaneous with each other... in the last week i've been writing a bit about them all and orginising a map of my lego continent. I'm quite enjoying seeing how complex i can make it! Quote
K-Nut Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 I got a few more. 11. Black Knights 12. Dark Dwarves 13. Barbarians (Old, shirtless Vikings) 14. Vikings (CMF) 15. Wolfpack Quote

Be sure to post your background stories once you've formalised things! I love to read stuff like that . Quote
Fives Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 My Castle Kingdom has six factions: Crownies, Dwarves, Lion Knights, Orcs, Skeletons and Dragon Knights. But, these factions get grouped together into two main factions: The Forces of Good (Crownies, Lions, Dwarves), and the Forces of Evil (Orcs, Skeletons, Dragons). I also have a bunch of random old stuff from the old castle lines which I just make extra troops from. Quote

I've really been into the whole dragon concept lately for some reason. Edited August 25, 2011 by TheLegoDr Quote

Well right now my Black Knights and Dragon Knights are numerous (well Black Knights might suffer if I remove the crusader/royal/black falcon scale mail/breastplate minfigs), and my Dragon Masters are not. Plus I hope to get some dragons for them and they are called Dragon Masters so naturally their name lends well to that kind of story. Later on I will get more dragon masters but probably not enough dragons for them to mount. So the story is that only those chosen by the dragons get to ride them. Work my financial limitations/and lego supply shortages into the storyline lol. I plan on doing that with most of the expensive minifigures and stuff like horse barding. Quote
K-Nut Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 I always thought of the Dragon Knights as offspring of the Dragon masters exiled because of their crimes. Similar to what I think of the Wolfpack to the Forestmen. Quote
ziljin Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 (edited) It's open to interpretation of course. I just figured things might get crowded if you are like me trying to fit in every Castle faction ever + Ninjas and Vikings. Edited August 25, 2011 by ziljin Quote
Sir Jonathan Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Well my factions are all in this one kingdom: Vaerlon Once Vaerlon was united and everything went peacefully, until some of the Lion knights left and formed the Dragon knights. The Dragon knights became stronger and got more followers. The destroyed faction (The Scorpios Order) was hunted down by the Lions, to stop them from joining the Dragon Order (Dragon Knights) Well here are my factions then: Lionsward (The Lions army) The Dragon Order (dragon knights) The Scorpios Order (Vladeks army- only got three of them) Guardians of The Holy Pact (I´ve made a story about this pact. The three best knights of Vaerlon was once chosen to uphold and protect the Staff of Eternal Power from any dangers) More factions will be sure to come and i will post some MOC´s sooner or later Quote
