gotoAndLego Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 How do you handle insuring your collection? Are there extra riders to have? How do you proove what's in your collection? What about bricklink orders? I'm mostly interested in the US but this thread will be relevant to everyone else as well. Quote

My home owners insurance limits more than cover the contents of my home, but in order to prove it I am in the process of taking a lot of pictures and storing them online. I don't know how I'd value BL and PAB pieces... I have no idea what my collection is worth. The individually bought pieces are easily several thousand dollars. Definitely looking forward to hearing what others have to say about this. Edited July 20, 2011 by fred67 Quote
Hoboman Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 I am in the same boat as Fred. we took lots of pictures, not just o fLego but of books and other things. Store it off site in a safty deposit box. No need for a special rider for me. Quote
Dr. Steve Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 (edited) My suggestion is to once a year walk through your home with a video camera and video your entire house. (open cabinets, closets, take close ups of jewelry etc.) Store it off site (as suggested above). This way if a fire ever happens you can review the video and make a full list of your possessions. I also recommend scanning important documents like Insurance, credit card, bank accounts etc. and also store it of site. With the Lego I am in the process of creating an inventory of the expensive stuff (minifigs and complete sets). I am shooting video of the entire collection and still shots of figs and sets. As I add to my collection I will simply take pictures of the new sets and figs and add them to the list. It's a lot of work, but if you ever need it you will be very thankful.
