Just wonder how much it will go for... no doubt a silent bidder in the last 4 seconds.

Slightly off topic: I really appreciate how Ricardo.ch works, if there is a bid within the last 5 minutes, the end time is extended by another 5 minutes. This is much more like a 'auction house' and means you have a chance to pay up to your limit, and silent bidders dont win by pennies.

Yeah I always wondered why ebay doesn't have an option like that. Even just one more minute after the most recent bid would make it much more attractive for sellers. Although it will be more difficult getting cheap deals as buyer

Extending the auction is also used in live auctions with going 1, going 2, and gone stage. However if eBay were to try and implement this, a lot of bidders would threaten to quit eBay because they can't get a good deal via last minute sniping.

But from seller's view, they can get more money, and with higher final amount more fee for eBay as well. So it comes down to if eBay is willing to risk losing 3 or 4 bidders to make more money.

Hmmm... wonder why it wasn't implemented already.

PS *drool* at monorail. Unfortunately shipping to USA would kill this. It'd probably be cheaper to pick up a couple used Airport monorail sets from USA seller than to buy this one from oversea.

On the other hand, anyone who feels they lost to a last moment bid and said "I would have paid..." lied to themselves when they put in their max amount in the first place. ebay allows you to place a bid max amount in and they will continue to up the bid for you. So if you were willing to pay more for an item and did not put it in, that is more your fault then it is the person who was willing to pay more.

The last moment snipe only works when people try and penny up their bids. If you would have paid .50 more then you should have bid a higher max that reflected that amount.
