IronArtist Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 (edited) I'm a huge fan of FMA and I can remember doing a whole bunch of characters from the anime way back when. After getting back into FMA with the new Brotherhood series I decided to try again, starting with Ed and Al. I have to say Alphonse was by far the hardest character to envision in LEGO form I've ever tried my hand at, far more difficult than my attempt at Darth Vader. So here they are: More Soon! Omicron Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Never was a fan of FMA, but I gotta say these decals came out great. -Omi Quote
Hoboman Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I think you captured them well. In my mind, the real issue with Alphonse is how much larger he is to normal humans. To now have him the same size as a minifigure will make it harder. But given the tools, I think you did a great job. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I'm not familiar with FMA but it doesn't take a fan to appreciate how excellently done these decals are, they really look like professionally-made. Great job! Quote
IronArtist Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 I think you captured them well. In my mind, the real issue with Alphonse is how much larger he is to normal humans. You could always add some bricks to the feet area to make him taller than the others, also I plan on making Ed with the kiddie legs. That too should help make him larger, at least than Edward. Quote
Aveal the black sheep Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 (edited) Very nice job there IronArtist, I have been planning some FMA minifigs myself (got a sketch of some in my brickshelf if you want to check)so this really appealed to me. I envision Al as a Hagrid type minifig cause is much larger, or even a normal minifig but with custom armour making him bigger. Nice to see someone with similar taste. Will you put them on real minifigs? Keep it up. Cheers Edited July 11, 2011 by Aveal the black sheep Quote

I will hoever be doing more from the series, namely Mustang, Scar and Lt. Armstrong. I feel that a figure of Hagrid's size would be too large for Al, a couple of bricks on the feet should be ample. CommanderFox Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Looks good IronArtist! I think your've done a good job on the different grey shades for alphonse. The anime eye's on ed are pretty good aswell. CF Quote

IronArtist Posted July 15, 2011 Author Posted July 15, 2011 (edited) Can't wait to see them, Mustang was my favorite character in the FMA series. You won't have to wait much longer, I'm working on Roy at the moment. I've currently finished the face decal and started on designing the body. Mustang is my favourite as well, he's one gangsta' bad a$$ mutha ......, I mean he uses science to spontaneously burn people alive - Mustang vs. Lust (Brotherhood) = WINNING! So stay tuned. IronArtist Posted July 22, 2011 Author Posted July 22, 2011 Mustang Completed - got a bit lazy when it came to designing the body decal, but it turned out fairly reasonable in the end. Quote
Aveal the black sheep Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Mustang is very nice! I specially like the face. In the body the only thing that looks a bit off is the stars on the shoulders, they shouldn´t stand out this much I think, ranks on top of shoulder not directly in front so I wouldn´t put them. Perhaps if you make them smaller. Anyway terrific job how is the next? Quote
IronArtist Posted July 24, 2011 Author Posted July 24, 2011 I think it looks pretty darn spiffy. I realise that the rankings are above the breast of the blazer, however I think it really helps to create shape the design of the figure. Also its inclusion sets it appart from all the other decals arround which choose to disclude it altogether. I did try making the stars smaller which looked great but didn't suit the lego'esque feel of the artwork. When it's on a figure it'll look freaking awsome. Quote
JPS97 Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 Roy! I love dogs. Excellent job my friend. Do you have any plans to make more? Mabye a Hawkeye? -JPS97 Quote
IronArtist Posted July 24, 2011 Author Posted July 24, 2011 I've already started work on Major Alex Louis Armstorng, I've set myself up to tackle Scar the Ishvalan afterwards. I had planned to do Hawkeye after I complete Scar and then head onto some Villains such as Bradley, Lust, Gluttony and Hoenheim/Father. Shouldn't be too long before wesee Hawkeye at least. I've been a bit preoccupied with some Dragonball Z decals at the moment so I'll see what I can do. I'm currently researching about machine printing on LEGO figs so I can get these printed up properly, for once. Quote
