What would you do if you find any inferior clone bricks in your LEGO lot? Maybe a lot you found at Garage Sale, Boot Sale, eBay, etc and it has a few junk mixed in. Do you throw it on the floor, make a cross with your fingers, and yell "Begone, vile doppleganger!" or what? Or maybe you burn every one in hope of appeasing LEGO God and your next haul would be better.

I keep all the junk bricks I find into one pile, and when it gets big enough I sell em on eBay under the guise "Megablock lot, 99% Megablock. I went through them and threw out LEGO and other non Megablock junk" Gets buyer's attention and had a few "under the table" offers for those LEGO that I "threw" away. I did off one buyer, he offered a nice sum for "anything I find and removed from Megablocks". He got a bag of 12 Hot Wheels missing lot of original paint, a load of empty candy wrappers, several domino (not complete), several card from games like UNO, plastic military figures, and other odd and ends that had nothing to do with building blocks. That was before I went into the Dark Age a decade ago, about a year before PayPal.

My latest megajunk pile will probably get sent to a local charity shop, marked "No LEGO, Megablocks only" and hopefully some weak minded reseller with the IQ of a rock would buy then resell on eBay the lot at ridiculously high, like normal LEGO high.

To be honest it depends on what it is. Regular blocks are sent to the local school "Lego" collection as it is mostly non-Lego anyway.

But I did keep a few elements. The Hvy MG from a Halo set was nice enough to stay. One Camo brick went onto a plate and was given to an Ex-Army friend to use as a Business Card Holder on his desk. Couple of silly things liek that.

But for the most part, yes, I purge them.

Sigh, not another one of these.

This is off to community where someone helpful can assist me in finding the other thread that runs along these lines.

For the record, save them and donate what you don't want. Destructive methods are selfish and juvinile when cheaper bricks can give someone somewhere enjoyment and a chance at creative play.

I usually find megabloks in the bulks I buy. That's probably one of the reasons I had a break on the purchase of those things.

To be honest, megabloks are the least of my concerns about finding creepy stuff in "LEGO" bulks. My worst concern are filth then I have serious issues with scratched bricks, specially those bricks which have micro scratches which make them look old and used. For some reason megabloks and other clone bricks tend to be in better condition. What I do is group the clones together, discard the worst-quality ones and keep the good ones in a bag. Eventually, annoying little cousin comes and as usual wants to charge you a tax for owning so much LEGO, so I give those clone bricks to them. I also have reached so many amounts of clone bricks that I have donated rather large bags in two occasions.

I do not like the idea of trashing useful bricks, even the clones. They may end in the ocean and there are many kids out there who would be just fine with any brand of construction bricks. I do not find amusing to harm the environment AND neglect kids free toys at the same time.

Edit : I do save stuff that is interesting, so far I have been unimpressed with most things that come from clone brands. But I did keep a couple of sci-fi-ish guns which BTW may be brick forge because I can't find the megabloks set they come from and they seem to follow the design guidelines. o_O , I also keep nanobloks, in so far I have only found about 15 nanobloks bricks, maybe one day I'll be able to MoC with them. Hope to see modulex one day too.

When I read the title of the thread, I thought I was going to get a new version of the replicant quiz from Blade Runner.

If it's just a piece or two I toss it. Otherwise I donate it to Goodwill.

I got a bargain bunch of Lego a while back, although I've halted sorting it because it was a bit time consuming (and a little soul destroying with how dirty / chewed some of it was) - but I've been separating the Megabloks out and I'm donating them to the children of a friend. They're too young to really appreciate the difference, and they'll just enjoy having extra bricks.

I would purge the whole box where it is found. One could also clean all the bricks in a dishwasher.

Or if possible, nuke the site from orbit. It is the only way to be sure.

I tried, I really did, I went back 10 pages and I couldn't find out, I know it exists.

I guess my answer would be "Cry in the corner until the mega bloks are removed from my sites."

I donate them to a local educational facility. Even if I find them in a parking lot.

BTW, once at a thrift store I saw several lego brick tubs for sale. I was very excited until I peeked inside to find.....not even megablocks, but a clone that was incompatible with LEGO. I mean, megablocks I can understand but something incompatible?!?!

Eh, let the buyer beware.

I try to make use of it, if it is a useful piece like a weapon or body part.

If it is a brick or another part, I throw it back in the bin for later mocing use.

If its a lot, I sell them at the yearly garage sale. If its just a part, I normally put it on a park bench or something for a kid to find. Badly damaged ones are thrown away.

I'm pretty sure I have replied in this kind of thread before with pretty much the same words as I did in my first post in here, but after scanning my whole posting history, I have been unable to find the said thread and post. Perhaps I have to hand over my black belt in googling.

I have a "box of shame" where all that goes into M3g4B10cks, broken pieces, Tyco etc., I do not throw them out nor bother donating them (maybe once the box gets full I will) they just get sorted out and put aside in the box.

I'd find myself going into an uncontrollable black rage. But even after sorting through countless unsorted lots and scrutinising everything, I've found the odd clone brick in my private stash.
