dr_spock Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I recently bought an Apple wireless keyboard for my iPad and needed something to stand up my iPad. I was going to buy a stand until I saw their prices. So instead, some ABS bricks here and there and voila, an iPad stand. What practical uses of LEGO do you have? Quote
fred67 Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I have some propping up one side of my lop-sided monitor. I also plan on building an iTouch holder... set up an old stereo with line in for my wife; no iPod connection, so it'll have to use a standard headphone jack to the line in, and it's on the bottom of the iTouch, so I was planning on building a similar stand as yours, but it would be a LOT smaller. Brickdoctor Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I did a holder for an iPod Touch last year. (though it's long since been disassembled; no pics) No connections, unfortunately, I was concentrating on SNOT curves and aesthetics. Quote
Si-MOCs Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 You used those flat tiles for THAT?!?! :O but but but but... they're so awesome for SHIP cladding and runway strips. /cry I guess that's pretty cool - I'll admit the cat is pretty awesome :) The most 'useful' LEGO thing I ever built was some battery 'bins' for the wii, I had a white one for good batteries and a red one for 'recharge me' Quote
Rook Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Nice, I did that for iPhone a while back. http://www.thecabg.net/t6816-ah-touchy-touchy#209698 Quote
dr_spock Posted July 8, 2011 Author Posted July 8, 2011 Rook -> That's nice holder out of Technic pieces. Simon -> I suppose I could have used my 8x16 plates. I was under my car changing the oil the other day and found the 2x2 brick I used to hold up the splash guard. I almost forgot I did that. Quote
legodac Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I also did something somewhat similar a while back, though it isn't as advanced as any of yours. My Ps3 was heating up so I simply created four sturdy legs out of Lego to separate the console from the others and allow some more air movement between components. Problem solved with a so called child's toy! Quote
brickmack Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 I was installing LEGO Universe a while back and when my CD drive is on, it heats up my computer REALLY bad, so I made a little stand underneath it. Fortunately nothing melted . A few months ago I also tried to make an M&M dispenser, but I gave up after I realized I needed too many of the parts for a project (I ended up giving up on that project too though, so meh)... Quote
CMP Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 I built a Lego seperator to put in my drawer to seperate my BrickArms. Bricks for bricks. Quote
Fallenangel Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 I recall having made LEGO picture frames for our family photos as a child. It wasn't anything elaborate, but they did look nice. I also have a small LEGO stand holding up my crappy Revell X-wing kit. Quote
brickmack Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 I recall having made LEGO picture frames for our family photos as a child. It wasn't anything elaborate, but they did look nice. I also have a small LEGO stand holding up my crappy Revell X-wing kit. I had that kit too. I think I had it on a pillar of transclear parts until the wing broke off again and I threw it out a window into a rubbish bin... (And thus began my still continuing quest to rid myself of all the useless, broken, dysfunctional, crappy junk I've accumulated...) Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I've seen black plates superglued to a blackberry holder to keep the phone stationary. (As it is so big, it falls out over the edge and the plates are glued across to make a wall.) Quote
Mr_Malfoy Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 I once made a support for my fake christmas tree when one of the supports was missing . It actually worked quite well! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 That is a great use for those parts, definitely original. Although, being a city/train fanatic, I can't surfice (which apparently isn't a familiar word on this forum) those particular parts. Still a great concept Quote
HighFlyer Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 That is superb, ingenious design! The cat adds a high degree of awesomeness to it Quote
