tafkatb Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 I was just wondering if anyone had an idea of how much longer the sale-priced sets on S@H would still be available. There's one that I really want to get (specifically, 7571 The Fight for the Dagger, if that helps), but I will be moving later this year and have (grudgingly) decided to buy no more new LEGO until after I'm settled into the new place and have more storage space, but I'm worried if I wait too long, it will no longer be available.
Legofan4ever88 Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Usually sale price seems to last until items are sold out. How long that'll be varies on the popularity of said item and the price.
autobrick Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 To be honest, the Prince of Persia sale on S@H is not all that great (20% off in Canada, but may be different elsewhere). PoP was never very popular as a theme, and I have read many reports of it going on sale/clearance. For example, Toys R Us had 50% off PoP on Boxing day in Canada (and Lego never goes more than 30% off in Canada). I had a coupon so I managed to pick up Battle of Alamut for $45+taxes . My suggestion for anybody who is interested in PoP is to wait; another, better sale on PoP is inevitable.

Now that I think about it, I remember seeing PoP sets on clearance at Target too... over a year ago. Guess I don't have to worry about them selling out too fast, eh?
madoka Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Thanks for the advice autobrick! Now that I think about it, I remember seeing PoP sets on clearance at Target too... over a year ago. Guess I don't have to worry about them selling out too fast, eh? Yeah, PoP is a poor seller. I bought large quantities last year at 50% off from Disney.com. I think I still have yet to open a couple hundred of those sets. When they are getting blown out like that, while relatively new, then you know you should be able to find them for a while.
Hoboman Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Yeah, PoP is a poor seller. The sad part is some of those sets do have great bricks and parts. But the movie did so bad that there was no real fan base to speak of. Me, I am lookingforward to some deeper sales so I can pick up a few extra sets for the bricks alone.
Big Cam Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Products go on clearance when the company is ready to phase them out completely. Physical stores like Target will likely run out of clearance items fast, if a physical store puts an item on clearance, it's likely that only the stock they have left in that store is it. A place like shop@home may last a little longer since their inventory is likely more than a handful of sets like a physical store. If a set you want is on clearance, I suggest you buy it. Otherwise you are getting close to missing out on it.
Mythos Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 When WalMart cleared these sets out they dropped the price by about 75 - 80% on them, they had the castle going for $18 and the little $11 set was $3 ea. and so on.
