A small crane build to participate in the Technic Challenge of Juni. Couldn't participate tho due to a lighting strike... Nevertheless the Challenge has forced me to build a fun and working crane.

It's a fictional crane that's used in underground mines to carry stuff from here to there. In the back section we find most of the controls, a v6 and a pneumatic pump. Also on the picture you can see 2 pneumatic switches, a little explanation: As usual I didn't have enough space to put the cylinder properly so it could push the arm up all by itself. Therefor I had to insert a second small cylinder to push the arm up a bit so the big cylinder could take over.

As you can see the arm won't go up here since the cylinder will only push it forwards.

In this position the arm will rise since the cylinder also applies a vertical force.

Other functions are four wheel drive and suspension possible by a vertical turntable in the middle of the crane. Well that's about it.

Great crane! Is that a 3 section boom? How do you have the steering setup?

I really like your building style, and it seems similar to how I build things.

Do you have any other pictures? Any video? Nice job!

The boom has 2 sections.

The steering is done by to turntables on top of each other and a 8 tooth gear connected to them. This gear is then connected to the warning light in the middle.

More pictures can be seen on flickr.

I'm planning to make a video but the computer I'm using now doesn't allow me to edit videos so I have to wait for the new one, witch will be here in about 2 weeks.
