A while ago I tried my hand at customisation using water-slide decals with mixed results. I recently decided to give it another try and decided to buy more materials. I found this supplier who also do a ink-jet/laser printable dry rub decal paper (they claim to be the only supplier in Europe). This sounds brilliant to me, but I wondered if anybody here has any experience with it, and if so, is it any good?

EDIT: Apologies if anybody has already asked about this, I did a search and didn't find anything.

I have used waterslide and dry rub.

Dry rub is very useful, great for use on parts with electronics (since you wouldn't want to dunk those in water). The main problem with dry rub is that it must have a clear coat or it will come off the plastic with very little use. It is also difficult to apply on curved parts (like heads).

Thanks Dark Dragon  - I was hoping the Dry Rub would take some of the hassle out of applying decals but it sounds like I'll be ordering more water-slide paper.

I have not tried Dry Rub myself, so Praiter Yed, if you do, please return here and tell us how it goes. :sweet:

I'm tempted to buy just one sheet and have a play so I will certainly share my experiences. :classic:

Now I need to decide whether to order white or clear

I use dry rub decal paper whenever possible, and I use the clear variety. It can be difficult to get a clean application, but it's definitely worth it.

One thing to be careful of is your printer accepting the paper - my wireless Epson printer does't recognise it (it passes it through), whereas other printers I have access to will. You will also probably have to print your decals in reverse to have them stick the right way around.
