Mego Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 After getting modification to my 8070 with PF parts, I felt so excited. However, I found out another problem with my PF RC when I tried to control new 8070, I got confused. I couldn't remember Up is Right and Down is Left or in opposite. I spent time to look around on Bricksheft, Google, etc. But I couldn't find a best solution for myself. I saw a lot of AFOLs use the Steering wheel, but for me it's just to hard to hold the PF RC in hand and then control both Driving & Steering functions at the same time. Therefore, I decided to create ones for myself, so I bring some photos of that Steering Function Module here. It's easy to detach from PF RC, so you can attach it with many others. le60head Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Very very good, mate! It looks sturdy and simple enough. Nice job! I've seen a lot of people connect a steering wheel to the actual control lever via a link of some sort - even a rubber 2x1 "beam". Thus, when you spin the steering wheel left, it pushes or pulls the steering control fw or back. Yours is the first i've seen to use conical gear wheels to do the job. I am wondering, whether the steering lever has a lot of free play, due to the gear wheels you've used. I'll appreciate it if you would give some info about that :) I am currently using this to control my pf models: I use the steering wheel with the following rule in mind: when i'm looking at it head on, left is left and right is right. Works for me ;) Quote
DLuders Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 @ Mego: Welcome to Eurobricks! Your pictures are HUGE; they need to be resized so that they load much faster.
