Captain Green Hair Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Yesterday I got a box in the mail. A good friend that works for Volvo has send me a custom set of 2 Volvo engines! The set contains models of a Penta IPS 600 and an Aero RM12 engine. The first I think is a naval engine, since it has propellers. The other one is a jet engine which is currently used in the Gripen fighter jet. First a shot of the box: You can see it comes in a perfectly fitting box, with a nice picture of the models on the front. When we open the box we see this: The parts for bot models are packed seperated, which makes building a bit easier. The set comes with nice and clear colour printed instructions for both models: It is easy to tell dark grey and black in them! These are the bag contents for the first model, the Penta IPS 600: There are s lot of nice parts in there, like silver propellers and black 2x4 tiles. This is what the finished model looks like: A nice feature is that the propellers can actually rotate. Also note the cool printed tile with the model name on it. These are the bag contents for the second model: And the finished model: There are no play features in this one, but it does look exactly like the real thing. Lastly there are some extra parts in the set. I am very pleased with this set, as I think it is really special my friend designed it and has send me a copy. Now I need to find out for what occasion these were made and how many there are. But perhaps he can answer this himself. So that concludes my review, I hope you like it! Quote

Reminds me of the scarlet pimpernel: "We seek him here, we seek him there, Those frenchies seek him everywhere. Is he in heaven? Is he in hell? That damned, elusive Pimpernel." Anyway, very nice review Yes, the green engine is a Volvo Penta IPS600 marine engine. It is revolutionary in that it has forward pointing propellers. It is always mounted in pairs, as the pods together enables the boat to be moved completely freely in any direction. About the boxes - a total of 1500 boxes where produced, divided into 9 different kinds, with various Volvo Group vehicles. Maybe we will see some of them here on the forum eventually - who knows... Ras 74 Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Nice review CGH! Nice to see this model reviewed on one of the finest (beeing a little modest here) boards of the Globe. Hope to see some of the other 8 models in reviews as well. Quote
