MdrnMrvls Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Well after being absent for awhile taking care of other stuff, I was finally able to finish my boat yesterday. A main goal of mine while building this was to keep the design of the haul as simple as possible. I'm really happy with what I came up with and I want to build another boat soon. I did a lot of scrounging of white pieces towards the end. A lot of them cam from a torn apart White House set that provided a LOT of jumper plates. I hardly know anything about fishing or the fishing industry so there might be some minute details askew here and there. But, this is my first real attempt at capturing the proper look of a boat and the accompanying curved haul design (the freighter was different.) I hope you enjoy it! AussieJimbo Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Great fishing trawler, MdrnMrvls. Very nice work. :classic: Quote
Toadtorrent Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Nice choice of crew too!! How about adding on a tuna harpooning perch? Quote
Zorbas Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Great work MdrnMrvls. The raised/curved bow is a really great detail and it's beautifully built. The protective tyres are a nice touch and adds to the overall scenery. Shrimps anyone? Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Top notch vessel 'MdrnMrvls'. Excellent job on the design, keep up the great work Quote
Gioppa Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 when I see the photo in my mind is come a question....where is the yellow barrel??because remind me the boat "orca "from the movie "jaws" Excellent work! Quote
Brickdoctor Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 While I normally prefer hulls built with fancy smooth techniques, this one just feels so classically LEGO-ish that I can't help but like it. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Like the others I'm also diggin' the elevated front hull of this boat. Its non-smooth finish coupled with the rest of the studded surfaces really give this a classically-beautiful look. Very good job! Quote
MdrnMrvls Posted June 24, 2011 Author Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) Thanks again everyone! I'm really happy you like it. I owe a lot of inspiration to the Nordic Wharf that was built a couple months ago (it was also posted on Eurobricks.) The boats in this diorama were so cool! We posted it on Brick Town Talk too.
