CorneliusMurdock Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 (edited) My wife let me open my father's day gift early. So I assembled Mill Village Raid this afternoon. I did notice something odd, though. I knew this set would only contain one minifig head I already owned but when I looked at that one it seemed different as well. I compared it to the one I had and here is the result. The one on the left is from Prison Carriage Rescue. The right one is from Mill Village Raid. The difference appears to be the time that has passed since the guy shaved. I figure one of this is a slight misprint. I like them both and am glad to have a different one for variety. My question is, which one is the misprint? Edited June 11, 2011 by CorneliusMurdock Quote
airsoftg36c Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 The one on the right is the misprint. I have several of the head on the left, and have never seen the one on the right. Quote
ziljin Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 I believe that is just a variant of existing heads. They did a few of those for Kingdoms Wave 2. Quote
Stormbringer Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I've noticed that too on a couple of Indy faces (light and dark beards). Maybe he came to life and got a shave? Quote
Mr. Gray Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Being that I have picked up over 15 Prison Carriage rescue, I have seen that face with a lighter beard as well. I think it is just a misprint. Maybe a variant though, since you got it in the mill set. Needless to say, it's nice to have variety after you have over 15 copies of the same head. Quote
Fives Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I had this happen a lot with Indiana Jones head. Most of the Indy head I own have a rather big beard instead of the little stubble he should have. I'm notr surprised. Quote
madoka Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Variations like this have been around since 1989 when the original Pirates line was released. Nothing new and it's quite common. Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I had the same type of error in one of my older sets. It's seems that printer just pushed a little harder than usual. Quote
CaptainBermuda Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 The left one probably printed twice...or three times. Quote
Jack Bricker Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 I had some dragon knights like those. It probably is due to the printer cartridges getting old and then getting replaced. Quote
ziljin Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Wow you guys are write about the printing. I looked at some of my sets in which I have multiple copies of. Some of the printing(both torso and face) is slightly higher/lower than others. And some of the facial hair is faded like in the OP. On one hand its not all of the same quality, but on the other hand, it gives subtle variation to the heads although you don't really notice unless you pay close attention to them. Quote
