Hi Everyone!

I'm a new member at Eurobricks, so I thought I'd kick of the introduction by sharing my most recent MOC; "Squid Attack"

I'm really keen for feedback, so feel free to fire away :cannon:

Anyway, I look forward to meeting you all and I hope you enjoy my creation :pir-classic:

Hello Vickrion,

that's very good for a first post dark-age MOC! You seem to have quite an important collection. I'm really a fan of those scenes, full of details and action.

You did a good job on the brick-built squid coming out of the sea.

Why are the redcoats shooting at the diver? They think he's some kind of monster too? :pir_laugh2:

Be sure I'll take a look to your future creations!

Thanks for the feedback Paul!

I think the scene might be bordering "over-crowded", but you only get one first MOC and I thought I'd try and cram in as much as I could!

I like to imagine that in the rush to get down to the beach-front the cannon has misfired, catching the poor diver as he swims out to help those on the sinking ship :pir-grin:

Welcome to Eurobricks. Your squid doesn't look as fierce as the Kraken from PotC, but you still did a good job.

It's certainly no boring MOC with this huge number of different scenes and minifigs.

Well done

Thank you Admiral!

My inspiration for the squid came from slightly older literature that POtC;

Some of the drawings done by early mariners and scholars like Pierre Denys de Montfort have really inspired me and defined how I imagine a lot of pirate-lore creatures :pir-blush:

eventually I'd like to be able to re-create this particular painting, but baby steps for now :pir_laugh2:

That's a very entertaining MOC! It really has a good feeling of chaos that would likely happen with an animal like that. :pir_laugh2:

One thing I would recommend try to do is to get a picture without the sheet hanging so much over the MOC, because it creates a large shadow on the MOC that makes it tough to see. Very nice job though!

Thanks for the advice Erdbeereis :pir-classic: Is it worth building a light-box to shoot photos in future?

Thanks for the advice Erdbeereis :pir-classic: Is it worth building a light-box to shoot photos in future?

I would like to advice, making more than one picture of the same Scene( if you haven't done already) with diffrent types of light.

Types of light I have used:

-Daylight

-Camera light

-LED light

-normal house light( Don't know how to call this light :pir-blush:)

All these types of light give diffrent pictures of your MOC, It's just the time you pick to make these pictures.

At evening you will have to use fake light instead of daylight, makes it harder to let fall light at every square of your MOC.

making a "Box" can be easy, just find yourself a big carboard box. use A3 paper to make the sides white. or find a corner in your house and put some paper to the wall, same effect but you have to redo this everytime.

I guess your housemates/family don't like paper just sticking on the walls :pir-tongue:

I hope you can use these tips in some way, don't forget:

your MOC was great!

My goodness! This is one of the best things I've seen! You did an excellent job with the kraken emerging from the water. Also, I must say good idea with the boat about to be turned on the side and the giant octopus tentacle sticking out from the water. Nicely done. :excited:

Thanks for the Advice Bjornu, unfortunately I don't think I have any space big enough to wall-paper yet, I might just scale down and start watching my lighting a bit more :pir-grin:
