Lasse D Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 (edited) Since LEGO is coming up with a Star Wars USC Executor in almost the same scale as my 8 year old design, I want to grab the opportunity and start building a new version. For this project I'm gathering all the constructive feedback that I have on the old design. This is feedback from both MOCPages, FBTB, here and elsewhere. I have been pointed to the following thread in a French forum, where some people supposedly have some good constructive feedback: http://www.brickpirate.net/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=7790&start=40 Can anyone here translate what his feedback/ideas are? It is me who is Lasse/gtahelper. Thanks in advance. Edited June 3, 2011 by Lasse D Quote
fred67 Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 (edited) Google Translate? I know it's not usually very clear, but you can usually get what people are trying to say. Edit: In fact, if you view the page in Google Chrome, it will ask if you want to translate the entire page all at once for you. Edited June 3, 2011 by fred67 Quote
Lasse D Posted June 3, 2011 Author Posted June 3, 2011 I have tried google translate. I think it must have had something wrong, as it doesn't sound like constructive feedback, or at least, I can't decipher what it should be. Quote
Kleber Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 So, I try, but my english isn't so good. For the major part of the page, they discuss and search evidence of a plagiarism. Some thinks that Lego have copy the MOC or that some MOc are copy from other. Not so interesting I think. About the MOC (I quote): Lasse's MOC, as I already said, is badly conceived. The beams all the length on the sides are tilted (!) with Cardan joints (Re!!). It results from it that the structure is completely missed (he even knows it), and thus not right (nor solid). The supports black are not very solid and are not really integrated into the model. They hold with 4 studs each one. The studs outside are ugly. It's all I believe. Don't know if it will help you and if you understand me. Quote
mixtil Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Hi, I'm a member from brickpirate. I think that there isn't something that can help you in this topic discussion. Only one member who think that TLC has copied his work. Quote
Lasse D Posted June 4, 2011 Author Posted June 4, 2011 Thanks. Kleber and mixtil. It sounds like there isn't anything constructive to get out of there. I will stick to the feedback I have gotten elsewhere, as saying that my current design is scheit, ugly and poorly constructed isn't exactly anything I can use. I hope he has calmed down by now. Quote
Larrynautik Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 As a member of Brickpirate too, I agree with Mixtil. But consider that Anio is a particularly punctilious MOC designer, and it is to his credit as he created some fantastic MOCs. He also explains in the post on Brickpirate the reasons of the choices he made for his Executor. My opinion is that you should have a long look on his Executor to see the details and structure he has chosen. It could really help you find ideas for your one, and make a even better one. Maybe you should rebuilt completely your one ten times before being totally satisfied by the result. Each creation work knows this severe rule to reach some kind of perfection. Quote
Lasse D Posted June 7, 2011 Author Posted June 7, 2011 I have seen his model, but unfortunately those comments make me not want to study his design any further. Fortunately there are others who have improved my design and whose work I will look into. Quote
Larrynautik Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 I understand the comments he lets are not really sympathic for your creation, especially that in my opinion your Executor is really well designed. But such creations are like an artistic work ; no-one would create exactly the same ship, and will vary the colours, parts, general design and construction techniques used. What you create is really personnal, and having radical opinions like the one on BrickPirate is not really wise. We can criticize a creation, but as you said, constructive criticism, not just demeaning comments. Just continue creating without thinking of this. What you make has a sense and is admired by numbers of Lego fans. Quote
