raus Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Hello guys, I saw that my version of the truck Tatra 813 6x6. Made for Truck Trial and without traction differentials. XL has 2 power function for drive and steering is an average pf and pf medium is a fake v8 engine. Suspension like real shocks with yellow springs in the front axles and axle loose megablocks. Doors and engine compartment that open and tires them from the 8297 black version. The reductions are the same, 12> 20 12> 20 8> 24. The result can be seen here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=473684 Hope you enjoy. Thanks Quote
grindinggears Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Awesome model, the front part looks really strong and very Tatra-like! Maybe you could enhance its performance by softening the suspension. Since you use you're own design on some axles that shouldn't be too hard I hope. But what do you mean with Megablocks? Are you using them in your truck? And what does the 8L Axle with stop there? (picture is below) Torsional suspension? Quote
raus Posted May 27, 2011 Author Posted May 27, 2011 Thanks men! The suspension is the worst part. I was experimenting with it more softer as she walked to the front suspension lowered. It was the point I could make it work. Sorry, meant that the rear axle uses springs loose and the 8l really is a torsion bar. TAnk´s. Quote
yoraish Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 (edited) Hi, as you may know I'm familiar with Tatras and 813s specifically. And thats a great model you got there! Edited May 27, 2011 by yoraish Quote
nielsvdv Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 hi, like yoraish, i also build tatra's, i really love their design. and this one looks pretty good. as a mather of fact, i am working on a 6X6 tatra too. always nice when you can compare builders visions :) here is my WIP: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=473971 do you use 1 long drive shaft like real tatra's? it is hard to see on the photo's, i tend to use 2 because it gives less problems regards, and great work! Hi, I looked at your WIP model and found one spot which might be problematic. Your steering system is lacking a bit. Because the links the connect the wheel hubs to the steering rack are placed in an angle, it may cause the wheels to get out of the steering sync or even break it as pressure is applied. I know because I have had this problem in past models, and as you can see, in my newer ones, the links are straight. Hope it helps! Quote

Hope it helps! there is no problem here with it :) i already have a version with straight links, but the setup with the angle steering links has some advantages. it doesn't pop out with me, i keep the pivot point closer to the tyres, needing les power for the same action. also with this, the outer wheels in a corner steer more than the inner, kinda acting as a dif, but it isn't :p deu to this action, the back wheels, who do not have soomething diff like, keep on rolling like normal, pussing stress on the chassis, meaning turning better and tighter :) in my new 8X8, this also is applied, and an independent control of the left and right tyres by 2 xl's, hope this helps :) more on this if i choose to poste a topic about the finished result... raus: keep up the good work!
