I've been thinking of trying to sell some of my larger MOCs. Assuming that they actually sell, I'm debating whether to disassemble them and provide instructions, glue the models or just re-assemble them. I'm mostly thinking about how they would be transported.

I would go with the first option, except not all of the parts are available in LDraw - when I open the models I'm mainly missing windows and doors.

Some people may not like glued model but for large model, sometimes it may be the only way to safely transport them. It mostly depends on the size and complexity of the set.

I would certainly want instructions and be unassembled. That way, if it ever needed to be stored away, or someone wanted to eventually part it out to their collection, they could.

If you could break larger MOCs down to more easily managed pieces, that might be a better way to transport them.

Second option would be to glue those sections, which would still allow the complete set to be broken down and stored.

Ultimately, if I were buying, I would prefer pieces and instructions, though.

I would not refuse to buy a MOC if ti was glued, but it would limit the MOC's I would buy and lower the $ I would be willing to pay as well.

Break Down and clear instructions would be better IMO. :classic:

Instructions! I'd rip them apart and ship them with instructions. I'd never buy glued Lego. Thus I refuse buy the glued magnet sets.

I agree with Phred, I'd be royally pissed if I got a bunch of glued LEGO bricks, that defeats the purpose.

Please don't glue LEGO bricks!

Personally a model that's been glued or that comes without instructions would be worth less, but as long as I knew that in advance I wouldn't necessarily complain. I think the only thing that would really annoy me is if it wasn't made clear in advance exactly what I was getting.

I'd not want to get a glued set. As for the missing LDraw parts, you could try emailing some of the people that make those with a list of requests, and they could make them for you. Or you could try manually taking pictures of it as you build it, but depending on the size and complexity of the MOCs, this could be rather hard.

So I've been getting to grips with MLCAD and LDraw and those other programs... a pain in the neck so far, but I think I'm getting somewhere. I've managed to get hold of those missing parts, but I've had to add them back to the LDraw model.

I'm having problems using LPub, however: it doesn't play well with 64-bit POV-Ray, and crashes when using LDView.

In short... I'm not going to glue the model(s).

Well, there could be a compromise between gluing and not gluing: If you want to send the MOC in one piece, you can always use some dispersion glue that could be neutralized afterwards by putting the MOC into water or into a freezer, thereby neutralizing the adhesive effect and leaving the bricks intact. But this would propably a bit complex.
