Toadtorrent Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I'm new here...and only recently out of the dark ages...so I'm hoping you're forgiving if this is a really stupid question...but, in looking at the selection available at some PAB walls around the world as found here: BrickBuildr's iPAB Wall Page, and what people are getting in their cups at this post here at EB: EB's What Did You Get in Your PAB Cup thread...has anybody thought of doing a PAB cup swap? I'm thinking the idea that there have got to be parts at some PAB's that you can't get at others...so rather than pay premiums of parting out individual pieces on BL or wherever...that you just put in a request to individual members to do a swap based on what you have on your wall. Shipping would even out...and the cup price would even out...minimal cost...and kind of neat way to build community. ...just a thought...thinking that I see some stores have things I would like like gray and tan tiles, bamboo leaves, flowers other than red...but I have some things that might be of interest to others too like 1x4 reddish brown tiles, dark blue slope 45 double convex bricks and LBG slope 65 2x2x2's...you could also learn some interesting packing techniques. Just a thought... Quote
Lego Otaku Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 What's on PAB wall changes a lot, and while at my local store I could ask for other pieces it mostly depends on if they are busy or not, and if you have a friendly employee or not. You can try asking next time you visit the store, do try to get there early when there's a few customers. The only easy solution for PAB swap would be to make a list of (oh say,) top 10 most wanted pieces in specific color and style. Then hope someone finds em for you. Quote
brickmack Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Sounds like a cool idea. What's on PAB wall changes a lot, and while at my local store I could ask for other pieces it mostly depends on if they are busy or not, and if you have a friendly employee or not. I think he meant like people find parts at a PAB wall that they think others might find useful, and then another person finds parts they think someone might find useful. They find each others parts online, and each sends their cup of parts to the other. They both get parts they want, and since the cups (assuming they are the same size) would have about the same amount of parts, it would be a fair trade. Quote
prateek Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I'm pretty sure you could just tell (politely) management the parts you want, so they can know what to order next time. Quote

I have requested management to look at certain parts, and they say they will take that into consideration, but already have their orders in for the next month or two...so the rotation at the Sherway store might not change for another month or so. It's a new store, so I think they start with the default selection...which is fine...but I thought it made an opportunity for folks who have access to a store to see what's out there on a more "international" scale and have a relatively low cost way of obtaining a selection of parts. Just pondering... Quote

streifen Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 did my 1st PAB at Cardiff and 2nd PAB at London recently. the parts they have are at these 2 stores are different. i asked the London staff and they told me these are the parts they have. for parts of smaller quantities, they have it in the sealed bags of miscellaneous. bbut must say that PAB is addictive. did 4 PABs in the 2 weeks i was in UK.
