Leanne Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 (edited) I thought I'd would share the pictures of my boyfriends lego town that is still constructed in his parents loft. Old Lego Town There are a lot of photos of varying quality, I haven't had time to go through them properly. It consists of mainly late 70s-80s lego sets and few things he built himself, such as the football ground (complete with police searching the supporters as they go in). This was the reason I started building lego again! Edit: Adding a selection of photos... Horry Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Oh I love that! I had so many of those sets when I was a child. The whole scenery does look very alive. Quote
Zorbas Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Very nice classic town layout Leanne! There are some great sets in there and (being a classic town fan myself) I never get tired of looking at layouts that include classic town sets. It's this charm... Btw, why don't you deeplink a photo or two in your post? It will sure make the topic more interesting. P.S Do something about the dust! Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Now thats dusty . I adore your town. all of those classic town sets really makes it special. Nice work Quote
samshaw44 Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 He's got some really nice sets there, I love the football stadium as well. Bit of a shame about the dust but I don't suppose there is much you can do about that without dismantling and washing the whole lot. I have to say I was also guilty of drawing on road plates with permanent markers when I was younger. Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 What a lovely and dusty collection 'Leanne' and does you boyfriend have enough Shell service stations I think I counted at least three including my favorite 377 ! Brick On 'Leanne' ! Quote
Leanne Posted May 22, 2011 Author Posted May 22, 2011 He loved all the town sets. Although he did have at one point some trains and track which he swapped with a friend for more buildings. He does regret that now. It has been left in the loft for about 15-20 years which is why it is in such a state! The plan is to relocate and clean it in the next couple of years when we move somewhere with enough space. Ideally we will have the room to have the 'old' and 'new' towns, each with a rival football team and ground. That's the dream anyway! Quote
Zorbas Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 A great plan if you ask me. The rival football teams idea is clever. Thanks for sharing! Quote
minifig_gal Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 What a fantastic classic Town layout - a lot of those sets really bring back memories for a lot of us, I'm sure! Some day I will retrieve all my old Lego from my parents' house and build my town back up again. Might need to move to a bigger house first, though! Quote
greg3 Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 What a cool layout... I love it!! Brings back lots of memories as most of those sets were ones I had. I think it'd be fantastic to see it all cleaned up and brought back to life.... excellent stuff!! Quote
dr_spock Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Oh my, what fanatastic classic goodness. Rival teams is a good idea. Quote
Big Cam Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 That's awesome, it's what an AFOL's basement would look like 20 years ago. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Very nice layout! I liked many sets from that era though, it was before my time. He has a very nice diverse collection. Hope you two one day have time to clean them up a bit Quote
Fuzzylegobricks Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Awesome layout! I love the nice classic feel. Quote
Legoless Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 That takes me back to the sort of things I used to make. I didn't actually have that many sets so I improvised. Great stuff! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 A very nice classic town layout indeed, it just needs some 'dust-buster' for cleaning. Maybe more of the minifig cleaner like the one in the middle of the football field? Kidding aside, this is a very promising collection for restoration, do keep us posted in the future on how this will turn out. Quote
LAKAbricks Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 What a wonderful town a lot of classic models... Well, I agree, it needs to get washed... hehehe... It would be a dream to dismantle it all, wash it and spend a lovely time to build it all up again. A small advice: I can see some of the models are not built correctly. Maybe you will find the missing bricks somewhere in the models, otherwise you can order new bricks from LEGO's website or from Bricklink.com. Have fun moving, cleaning and building it again! And thanks for posting these pictures. So great to see a true classic town Quote
