Well, it's sad for me to discover that Zoo Lego is not a true news.

Anyway, there is another way to have wild animals like lions, tigers, hippos, giraffe... a Veterinary/Adventure/Safari sub-theme! Like the Playmobil from the 80's... remember? They could do a lot of sets, with minifigs adventurer and veterinary medics, helping wild animals from bad hunters and cure them from wounds :)

In this way, we could have a lot of animals... i wonder why Lego never think about it.

I never said it was not true, I just showed how easy it would be to create this false information, anyway, the only people who will know about the zoo are lego employees, so I guess we will have to wait until, my guess is at least october to get information on it

A Zoo theme would require quite a bunch of new molds for the wild animals, since so far how many have been produced? I can remember an elephant mould, and then there are the recent ostrich and camel (both not really too common in a zoo but usable). It's doable but I would have expected TLG to capitalize on the new molds of farm animals rather than making new ones.

Anyway... that section of the italian version of the page is written in quite a poor Italian language, not majorly flawed but still sounds as if it was written by a kid, IMHO.

The mill village raid gt goats chickens and pigs. I seen monkeys, crocodile, sharks and parrot before in other sets.

Yes, but Lego would have to come up with a Lion and Kangaroo though !

'damin' is right we have to wait for a few months to see what 2012 has in store for Lego City.

Keep on wishing !

It's all just speculation at this point though. By this logic someone could claim that Lego is bringing back the Studio theme because of the Monsters and the Gorilla Suit Guy and the Lizard Man.

No one said that every collectible mini figure theme is exactly what ideas they will do in the future. But, I think it does give a clue into their line of thinking. It gives people a more narrow focus on what ideas they might do. Yes, someone can claim that they will do a monsters theme and someone can claim they will do a ninja theme. Sometimes they will be right and sometimes they will be wrong.

I think it would become a safari park over a zoo (cages are mean). The whole ethical issue over a zoo might also be a problem.

These days most zoos are given over to breeding programmes and conservation of rare breeds disappearing from the wild. It's less about caged animals and more about protecting animals from extinction where natural habitats are vanishing or the threat of hunters is high. enclosures in zoos are made to look as much like their habitat as possible where possible. And many breeding programmes have release animals back into the wild.

However, all that aside, I too think a 'safari' subtheme might work better for getting zoo animals. It has broader scope. tourist safari trucks and jeeps, vegetation, interesting minifigs, hostel building, game wardens office, wild animal rescue/veterinary centre, tribal village, villainous poachers for the game warden to apprehend. It could in theory spawn more animals than a zoo subtheme. And tie in with both adventurers and pharoahs quest plus the collectible minifig girl with chimp, explorer and bush pilot.

Of course another option would be for Lego to make Animal packs. Just a box of Animals for you to do with what you want to. A pack of jungle animals, one of savannah animals, another of forest animals and another of farm animals. Oh and then sea creatures. There could even be an exclusive of something like Australian animals. or polar animals.

People generally have bricks and plates to make buildings but they don't have animal menageries. Unless they're crazy like me and have a drawer full of them. Animal packs would get round the theme specific problem and just let people go nuts with their imaginations.

I really like your Safari theme ideas and the whole idea of an animal pack as well.

Any news about the zoo ? Since there was a zookeeper collectable minifigure.

Er, no.

We already know what is coming in City for the first half next year, a little bit too about second half too !

But no zoo yet, next year city moves to the forest and mining, plus road vehicle sets....quite far off anything zoo like except a brown bear.

I have to agree with you, lightningtiger. I don't think the two have any connection to each other, sadly. I remember when LEGO first started the collectible minifigure line, they said they would be exclusive on their own, and multiple times it was said that they had no interaction or would not hint about any upcoming sets.

Although it would be awesome for a System zoo, and I see it being done easily because of the zookeeper torso being produced, I think the main focus of next year is the Forest Police, Forest Fire, Vehicles, and the gold mining summer theme. :sadnew:

A LEGO zoo? *huh* In the theme city? That would be awesome!

I wonder if it would be splitted into more smaller sets, or one large set?

But i think its fake... :hmpf_bad:

i' am waiting for a carnaval or circus theme.....

we got quite a few figs relevant to that theme from the CM.

I also like that one Circus Arena MOC awhile back in the LDD contest fourm.

But yes sadly no zoo it is looking like this year :sadnew:

A zoo would be an amazing theme, it would be a great transition for kids from duplo to lego, and a great addition to my Lego animal wants. (so I think it would be perfect for both the kids market and the AFOL market).

If they brought out a zoo theme and a school theme in the same year, I would probably openly cry in the middle of the toy aisle (tears of joy)

I was browsing Brickshelf last night and ran across a wonderful zoo, and I was thinking, "Why can't LEGO release something like this?" I would love it if this were true.

For those who are excited by this possibility, take a look at the zoo I found (not mine):

zoo_1.jpg

Here's the folder: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=472924

You can see that this creator used brick built ostriches and penguins, polar bears, elephants... quite a realistic zoo with only what is available today and what can be built, imagine a few new molds (and a zebra print would be awesome!).

Wow this Zoo it's too cool to be real! *huh*
