22kane Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Ok, heres another question... I noticed that Lego released a couple of Christmas themed sets like a bakery and a toy shop. I was actually thinking about getting these (they are still available) to set up under my tree with my Lego Train Set. Is Lego going to make more of these for future Christmas' or is this a one time thing? I have found the sets still available from Target for about $60 and noticed some ebayers selling them for about triple that. I never noticed any special Christmas sets like this before and was curious on the history of these. Quote
Lego Otaku Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 (edited) Ok, heres another question... I noticed that Lego released a couple of Christmas themed sets like a bakery and a toy shop. I have found the sets still available from Target for about $60 and noticed some ebayers selling them for about triple that. I never noticed any special Christmas sets like this before and was curious on the history of these. At one time, the Toy Shop was going for crazy money, then LEGO surprised by reissuing them last fall along with the new Bakery set. So who knows? LEGO may keep selling these 2, may retire one of them, may add a new one, or may not do anything this year other than a few $5 polybagged sets. A few years ago LEGO also released holiday themed train set #10173, which has not been made available since. Get em if you want one at regular price but do not stock up on them unless you got lots of room and money. Many eBay sellers were left in the cold when LEGO reissued the toy set, which kind of killed the resale market. Edited May 19, 2011 by Lego Otaku Quote
Vindicare Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Well, rumor has it, next year is a post office. So, it likely will be continuing. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 At one point yes, but I think it was confirmed by Grogall in one of his posts... ...and you're correct: Set 10222 Will be a Winter Village Post Office! Must've missed that. Quote
Ghandidcm Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 I can also confirm the LEGO 10222 Winter Village Post Office set The site is in Dutch, but you will see it is coming: http://www.brickshop.nl/lego/factory/lego-10222-winter-village-post-office.html Quote
Zeya Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Oh cool! I'll take a post office! I'm a fan of the holiday sets too. By the way, the upcoming City advent calendar is a winter-themed police thing. You end up making a police station by the end of it. You could put it alongside the winter sets if you want to. Of course there are past years' advent calendars. City almost always has an advent calendar, I think. We scooped up the 2010 one for this coming Christmas at TRU for $35 USD. http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7553-1 As for the holiday train. I'm sad I was in my dark age for that. People sell it for exorbitant prices on BL; it's rather sad. I heard that it wasn't on the shelves very long either, which drives up prices further. I wish they would do another run of that set as well. I really could care less if it ruins other people's MISB investments because of a re-release. Quote
