LegoCityMann Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 So, I am soon going to be purchasing 7498 Police Station. The question I have is what to do with my old 6332 Police Station. I am thinking I am going to disassemble it and use the parts for new MOC's and such. What do you do with older sets once they are replaced with a newer version? ~LCM Quote
Mr Benn Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Sometimes it's really good to incorporate parts of the old set into the new ones - as a lot of the city buildings are quite 'modular' - i.e. several distinct sections to the buildings - sometimes it's just a case of getting some bigger baseplates and positioning a few different sections side by side or on top of each other, depending on how well it works out - works pretty well for many of the police and fire stations though as they have relatively similar colours... 6332 seems a totally different colour, but has cool green windows (not sure I've seen this set before, must have been in a dark age of mine!) - I would repurpose those windows and some of the structure into some distinctly shadier security force building, that mysterious one on the edge of town where no one really knows what goes on in there - might be quite handy in this new age of the alien invasion!! lightningtiger Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Yep, strip down the old and build MOC's out of those parts. Brick On ! Quote

I've got this idea for a security company I've been wanting to build for sometime. Hmmm, Might work perfectly for Rangeman Security. ~LCM Quote
LAKAbricks Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Well... I would say, it depends on several things. My oldelst models have a high sentimental value for me, so I wouldn't like to strip them for MOC'ing. I'm not that connected to newer models, so most likely I could use the brickes for MOC'ing (I'm planning that for my newest airport). If you don't want to use the old model for MOC'ing, then you can consider if there is space enough in your city to have two of those - in this case police stations. Alternatively, maybe the old model can serve another purpose, like in real life. The 6332 maybe could be an office tower or a hotel. Quote
romdam Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 You have a complete set, why piece it out? I have say 3 Metro Park Towers. I didn't piece thm out, I baggied them up and boxed them. Quote
