OrangeKNight Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Gigaton Heavy Mech The GigaTon Heavy Mech, the peak of Conquest's line of Armored Assault Mechas. Bulked out to almost immobilizing proportions and armed with some serious heavy weapons. dual Heavy Plasma Cannons large enough to be classified as Artillery weapons and a Pair of low yield Tactical Nuke Armed Rockets for when things get hairy. Because both its weapons are Line of Sight based weapons it needs armor to get that direct line from its weapons to its targets. Also an addition version with 6 EXTRA missiles, cause when Missiles and Guns are concern, MORE IS BETTER! Buzzkill Honestly I don't even know, I built it while watching some SCII Casts on Youtube so....yeah. Mike Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Very nice mini-mechs OrangKNight! Even at such a small scale the Gigaton does really look like a Heavy Mech with its bulky muscular shape. The Buzzkill is well done too. Good job! Quote
Legostein Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Hello! The first one looks much more detailed than the second one, probably due to the lacking brightness for the black one. It's always hard to take a picture of a black creation. Some programs have an electronic flash light feature which helps a lot revealing details in black designs. Now back to the first creation. IT's a very complex-looking and compact construction. I especially like the skis for the feet and the nice twin "cockpit". Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
Zyniker Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 (edited) I'm somewhat torn on these designs. Sure, they look really good and detailed (especially considering the size of these MOCs), and I am especially fond of the second, as I really LOVE close-combat mechs. But I realy don't think that a mech armed with tactical nuclear bombs should operate on a line-of-sight base. Better make it a real artillery mech, with an effective range of a hundred miles or so. Replace the plasma cannons with long-range railguns. Just my thought on flavour (I know, I'm a geek). Otherwise, brilliant work. Edited May 14, 2011 by Zyniker Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Excellent mech 'OrangeKNight', hope there are more to come ! Keep on battling ! Quote

Well, its just fluff, I just didn't really like the top being mostly flat so I added some missile-thingys. I kinda had to write it last minute, thought I don't mind pointing out that Railguns are also pretty much Line-of-Sight weapons too ;p The first one looks much more detailed than the second one, probably due to the lacking brightness for the black one. Well it doesn't help my camera is good for anything other than "point and click" trying to do anything specific is mind numbingly painful, at some point I'll need to pic up a decent camera, anyways to get a better idea of some of the parts I grabbed a screencap of the LDD version; Mike Edited May 15, 2011 by OrangeKNight Quote
fr33manator Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 They both look nice for their scale, although buzzkill looks like it might be a bit unstable. And nukes are pretty pointless on a mech, unless it has long range capabilities. But I would suggest designing a mech solely for that purpose. Having nukes on a close combat mech seems like too much of a liability, unless you are going for a M.A.D. Scenario. Quote
OrangeKNight Posted May 15, 2011 Author Posted May 15, 2011 (edited) Buzzkill, well its not unstable, you gotta get the legs set up right(doesn't need to be perfect), and if you do its fine. Again on the Gigaton, its just fluff, thought I'm not sure where you get the idea the Gigaton is a close combat mech, wait let me re-read my hastily thought on fluff again..... Okay, yeah not seeing it guys ;p Mike Edited May 15, 2011 by OrangeKNight Quote
