LEGO Shop Girl Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 About me: well from starters I am currently employed as a sales associate for LEGO Brand Retail Inc based at the Aventura store in Miami Florida. I've been with the store since they opened nearly a year ago and despite it being primarily a regular sucky retail job; I love it, I love when new products come in, I love when something new has to go up for display and I get a chance to build it, I love working the Monthly Mini Model Builds, I love the club meetings, and I especially love the customers who come in with their stories. What I don't love is the lack of "Girl Friendly" Products currently gracing our store shelves. Fortunately Belville has finally gone back into production, but for the last 4 months we've only had a small sad pink box of 402 pieces to point to shamefully whenever a customer asks the question, "What do you have that's specifically for girls?" My current goal is to find some way some where to get in contact with some body who can help me change this and to help create more Official LEGO sets and series specifically tailored to girls. Till then I spend my off hours building my sets and screaming at my computer when the LDD fails to have the pieces I need to build the set that's been in my head all day. Quote

Peppermint_M Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Well rumours have it that a girls theme is turning up. For now you might as well send parents in the direction of City buildings and creator houses (my mother loves those). Or point out that girls can enjoy any lego (I myself am an example!) Welcome to the forum. With some staff jiggery poekery, I shall en-pinken your member group. (en-pinken is a word now). Quote
LEGO Shop Girl Posted May 12, 2011 Author Posted May 12, 2011 Welcome aboard. My daughter likes the ninja sets and hates pink. I was not a fan of the color pink myself as a young girl. And you have no idea how much of a relief it was when the Ninjago sets came out with a Nya spinner, yet still the majority of the parents who come into my store with daughters are looking for more feminine sets, things with princesses and tea parties and baby dolls. A friend of mine who once tried to get LEGO to make Final Fantasy sets (had square and everyone on board but never heard back from LEGO) made me a customized Alice minifigure but that was for the new American McGee game coming out soon and a bit outside the family friendly LEGO image. My current obsession is using LDD to try and make Beast's castle from Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Quote

XimenaPaulina Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Great to have another FFOL joining our community, and an LDD aficionado too. Welcome to Eurobricks LEGO Shop Girl! Enjoy your stay here. *"Go Miami Heat!" Quote
Soundmanred Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 My 4-1/2 year old daughter is the reason I got back into LEGO, and I do wish they had more "girly" sets. I bought both pink boxes, but that's not enough. I am glad they have a good representation of female minifigs in the collectible lines, she loves to get the girl ones! Quote

Well here's fingers crossed that not only am I able to get my current idea approved but that I do a good enough job designing and/or describing it that it turns into a series she will want to play with.
