Montage Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 This project will be my next MOC. It will driven by 2 XL motors using a subtractor and a M motor for steering, 1 M motor to run the conveyor chain, possible some mini LA's with two micromotors to raise the tail of the miner up and down, left/right, and then 2 LAs driven by one more M motor to raise and lower the turning heads of the miner. And one more final M motor to actually turn the heads of the continuous miner. I would like to ask some of the more knowledgeable technic builders if there is any part that would like like the miner bits on the head of this machine. This is what the heads of the continuous miner look like. I know I can use item #6222 in Brick link to get the round shape of the heads but what could I actually use for the teach other then black connector peg. Quote
DLuders Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Your MOC will look menacing with those teeth! You could consider using some Bionicle Back Blades for the teeth or 32551 Bionicle Claw Hook with Axle pieces. Perhaps the 87745 Technic, Pin Connector Round Curved with Fin and Hole would work too. Quote
Splat Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 My first thought would be the Technic Circular Saw Blade: The Technic Tread Sprocket Wheel Large or Technic Tread Sprocket Wheel Small might be okay: Other than that, some of the Bionicle pieces might work for you too. Quote
Montage Posted May 11, 2011 Author Posted May 11, 2011 The saw blade looks as if it might work but it would also be some what cheesy and look unrealistic to the destruction and terror of the miner heads. It will be considered though. Thanks. Quote
mostlytechnic Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 What about Wheel Hard Plastic with Small Cleats The teeth are blunt, but otherwise might work well if that's the scale you want. Quote
DLuders Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 There are also Bionicle Wings that could work, if they are overlapping and rotated a bit: Quote
