Hi, it's been a while, since I have posted some new pictures of my ship. I borrowed a Digi-cam from a friend and took some today. But since I have to return the cam quite soon, I can only spoiler you right now... more to come later... I took about 120 pictures, so I have to sort them out and use Photoshop to enhance the quality. But they are of a better quality than my handy-pictures allready.

The Fleet-Spoiler, called "The Chase"... I guess the Pirates on the Queen forgot to lower the Jolly Rogders... :pir-tongue:

More later!

By the way: HMS Athena is the white one :pir_laugh2:

P.S.: I had to share this right now...

P.P.S: No the paper sails aren't final :pir-classic:

Impressive fleet already  HMS Athena looks almost just as perfect as Ares.

Almost, because I agree with TazManiac about the spanker sail. Let's take our Trincomalee image as example again :pirate:

As you can see, the bottom beam of the spanker sail is almost half above the deck, and half sticking out.

The top yard of the spanker sail is almost entirely above the deck.

It could be quite difficult to change this on your ship but it helps that the sails aren't final.

So good luck, and like I said Athena looks great already. I can't wait to see more/better pictures!

HMS Athena is an 18 gun-frigate, armed with addional 6 carronade and 4 swivel guns. She is a captured French Corvette, now under Redcoat-Flag... and she isn't finished... as all my ships are :)

The Papersails are only some of the first versions, which I want to use as pattern for the cloth ones.

So, let's start with the picture-flood :pir_laugh2: HMS Athena- the smaller frigate with the larger spanker sail - as of yet...

The Spanker. I understand the problem... yes, normally the spanker-sail would be placed more inwards, but I got the proplem of the technic joints I used. Haven't figured that one out. Help is welcome.

The Stern - a bit boring... but I think I'm gonna integrate some of the Musketeer feathers between the flowers.

Headrails - still under construction, just noticed that the third black hose loosed herself on both sides.

Good looking little frigate  I agree about the spanker though, it looks way too large right now! From what I can tell 2 ways to solve this would be to make the overall size smaller so it doesnt extend out as far over the taff, or slide the sail attachment farther forward. Theres a big gap between the mizzen mast and the sail when it should be touching. Other than that looks good! I like the cannon design on deck too, and the tiled deck :pir-cry_happy:

The hull and deck seem perfect to me. Great job there.

On the sails, I think you should really take a closer look on real ships. For example the top sails are far too small compared to the royal sails.

I've already commented on the spanker sail, and I believe the studding sail yards aren't normally placed on the royal yards.

But great job on the rest. It's a beautiful ship for sure!

Yes you're definitly right about it. After comparing them to the pictures of the Tricomalee, I don't like them, too. I guess I have to redo the upper parts of the masts (mostly thetopmast and topgalant mast parts - Thank god, there are no crossriggings allready ) I just printed ot the picture of the sailplan of the Tricomalee and used my ruler to measure the space between the yards and the yards themself.

As for the studding-sails, yes the yards above the royal sail had to go...

As for your comment about the sails-name printed on (in the Queen's Thread)... I had to write them on the patterns, otherwhise I would have a puzzle to solve :pir_laugh2:

I guess without your comments I would have settled for far less, so THANK YOU!
