I was at the Lego Store in the Queens Center Mall today and picked up some series 3 and 4 Collectible Minifigs for $2.99. I then went to the one in Rockefeller Center, about 30 minutes away by subway, and they were $3.49!

Strikes me as a bit odd.

I should also note that the store in the Queens Center Mall had much much better customer service, plus it was also not a madhouse filled with tourists!

If it's not a mistake (I doubt) then it must be a marketing decision. Like the different countries prices in S@H.

There you have it! I think the price inflation at the Rockefeller Center is aimed at the tourists (it's convenient).

The Rockefeller Center store is one of the only LEGO stores that marks up its sets (I believe the Hawaii store does too). To my knowledge, it has to do with the very high rent in Rockefeller Center, and of course the very captive audience of tourists. All the other LEGO stores should have the same prices.

Manhattan is a very expensive place to do business; you'll often see disclaimers on ads for fast food, for example, being more expensive in NYC.

No doubt the store is raking it in, but it's equally no doubt their operating costs are a lot higher than in Queens.
