In case you haven't noticed, our LXF MOC indexer KielDaMan has today been promoted to Star Wars Moderator. Huge congratulations to him. And naturally it's great to see an LDD fan on the SW team - we're spreading like a virus

Also, while I'm at it: as of last week the LDD forum is no longer the smallest forum on Eurobricks surpassing our Brick Flick friends. Hurray! Naturally there's no competition or so, but still nice to see that we are a lot of people that tend to have that digital design perspective of LEGO building. Thanks everyone for making this the best place for LDD talk and a great place for general digital design discussions.

(Coincidently the BrickFlick and comics forum in some respects have a lot to do with LDD - just look at the great work of Randal where he is using LDD to create his comics)

I think we are in for an interesting future with LDD, and from what can be guessed so does TLG. LDD has just changed physics engine from Havok to Vortex, which is a true physics engine - so I'm guessing we can expect a lot of cool features in the future - simulation, gravity, stability control. It's good to know that TLG has a long term plan for LDD.

Also, other LEGO Cad tools are doing good. It's fantastic to see Sergios relentless work with SR3D and in many respects he is in the forefront of Lego CAD development. The only uncertainty may be LDraw and MLCad which hasn't been developed for some time. I can just hope that there will be some development, because LDraw is still the most powerful LEGO CAD-tool out there and I personally really like that it's fan driven.

I closing this little talk with some nice stats for our forum:

Congratulations, KDM!

Great to see the LDD Forum is growing. This is easily one of my favorite sections of EB. :sweet:

:sweet: I can't even begin to list all the things we could do with that.

Though I've been a lurker on parts of the forum for a while, it was the LDD forum that got me to start posting. It's been fun working on old official LEGO sets! Thanks for everyone's hard work! :)

Actually you are somewhat mixing things up... LDraw can be considered as a file format and a library of parts that can be used by many viewers (eg. LDView) and editors. MLCad is one of these editors (and I agree that it doesn't evolve much these days!), SR3D which uses LDraw parts is another one.

Fortunately LDraw, considered as a parts library, evolves every day, as you can see if you browse LDraw Parts Tracker activity.

And it would move even faster if more people joined the team as part authors or as part reviewers!

Hi

I'm aware that LDraw is the library and MLCad the editor, and maybe I expressed myself a bit carlessly. I guess what I meant is that (from what I understand, correct me if I'm wrong), MLCad is by far the most commonly used editor and that's why I grouped them together.
