arator Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 (edited) Made a modification from the tank truck. I got a lot of trucks with a trailer, at this I wanted just a truck without the trailer to the photo's Edited May 6, 2011 by arator Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 More of a heavy modified set than a MOC and there should be a stud gap between the tank and cab.....but still a very good truck design, quite realistic - keep up the good work 'arator' and Brick On ! Quote
Out of Sight Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Simple mod, yet so faithful of the real thing. That lifted third axle is a brilliant idea very common setup seen on many 6x2 rigid trucks in Europe. I read that the setup has two main purpose, to reduce tire wear when the truck is light (not loaded), and to comply with the road regulation for maximum axle tonnage when the truck is at its maximum gross combined weight (third axle in lowered position). Anyway one question remains..can the third axle be lowered and raised on your MOC ? I might need to get me another 3180 to make a rigid version after seeing this Quote
arator Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 By a cheat in the construction you can lower the 3th axle. First you need to remove a 4x4 (floor-)plate, then you see a 2x4 plate. And then the axlebricks, place the 2x4 under the axlebricks, and replace the floorplate and it's done. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Great job 'arator' Neat feature of the retractable wheel. Keep up the great work Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Nice work 'Arator' Looks alot better. More compact and I'm sure now it will be able to corner better. Quote
