SilentMode Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Wasn't sure where to post this (either the themes or the events thread), but the models themselves would probably be best suited to the Town theme. Anyhow, I've gotten around to uploading some photos of my display at AFOLcon over the weekend, and you can see the rest of them in my Flickr set. It was great to be able to show my work to the public for the first time, and it was an awesome event. My display was right next to Cecile, and her Collectible Minifigure vignettes. Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Excellent display 'SilentMode', no problems with children around eh ? I love that little deli you have in that street scape, has it been posted before - I don't remember seeing it before ? Brick On 'SilentMode' ! Quote
SilentMode Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 Thank you lightningtiger... There weren't any problems with the kids, except many of them liked to lean on the table and point at things! They particularly liked that there were a number of Gorilla and Hazmat Suit Guys in the display. It was surprising to hear how knowledgeable some of them were about past Lego sets as well! The delicatessen was a very recent build, designed around three weeks ago and built just in time for the convention; although it looks complete there are some parts that didn't arrive in time. The pizzeria (next to the deli) and the night club (the blue building) weren't posted before. Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Well I must say the deli is fantastic, the frontage is I like the most...any interior to it is there ? Quote
Fuzzylegobricks Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) Yes the deli is really cool, Cecilie must of liked it eh? Great little set up. Got the "I" Edited May 5, 2011 by Fuzzylegobricks Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Impressive display 'SilentMode' I wanted to go to AFOLcon but I was busy over the weekend. your buildings are great. Nice work. Quote
Cecilie Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 My display was right next to Cecile, and her Collectible Minifigure vignettes. Yes the deli is really cool, Cecile must of liked it eh? Great little set up. Talking about me? (Missing an "i" there ). And yes, I did like it, it was a very nice layout. I'm just happy none of the children leaning in over the barriers knocked my display over . Although they did knock the sign asking people not to touch the models over a few times . Quote
Gregorovich Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) Impressive display, SilentMode! I agree with everyone else, the deli is fantastic. Even the guy with the board outside it is great! The other buildings are great, too. Well done, and thanks for sharing! Edited May 4, 2011 by Gregorovich Quote
SilentMode Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) Some blurry photos... I will update these when I get the chance. The roof: The living area: The shop: I did spell Cecilie's name wrong, my eyesight has been going recently! Edited May 4, 2011 by SilentMode Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Very nice display, the deli-guy with the promo outfit is a really clever idea. Good job overall! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Great layout 'SilentMode' Love the CATAWoL club and the black limo. Great job on the details, especially on the deli. Really great job Quote
Syn Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I love the gorillas chasing the guy down the street! your attention to detail is fantastic! great job! Quote
Vincent Kessels Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 That are a lot of details. I like the Deli best, although the upper floors could use some more details on the outside. Quote
dr_spock Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Very nice display. Lots of things to hold the viewers' attention. Seems like there is a bit of a Planet of the Apes theme. Quote
pacc Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 I like the blurry interiors, if you just had one minifig using the furniture in focus it will give a great focusing effect with the rest of the room just adding to the atmosphere. Quote
