Hello all, I recently just ordered the 6271 Imperial Flagship (the one from 1992) off of BL for $40. It is missing "two sails, the minifigs, and the coins" but "the parts are in very good condition." I guess I am wondering if anyone else thinks this was a good deal. I personally have always wanted this ship as it has a slight nostalgia for me, but I won't bore you with the details. As for the minifigs, I like the new redcoats a lot more and have plenty to spare, as well as cannons if need be.

Anyways, lemme know what you all think, and as soon as I get it I will let you all know what I think for sure :pir-grin:

Thanks.

PS also, if anyone who owns the set wishes to tell me some things to be aware of, I won't mind at all. In the mean time I am going to go see if we have a review of that ship around here...

Well, the most expensive 6271 what i have seen to be sold in 79 euros, id say yes it was a good deal. The minifigs and the sails arent a big lost, you can always make your own sails and replace the old minifigs whit the new ones. You also get a working compass and alot of weapons wich is a plus of course. But the coins are a bit of a lost IMO. But if we think at you got the set whit out those in 40 euros or dollars, yes it was a good deal.

PS: Did you contac for the seller and asked him for a more info about the sets condition in overall? Because some parts might be broken, or their colour has been changed (Cant remember the word) and the plastic might be sometimes weak in some old sets. And make sure at you keep it in good condition and wash it carefully when its getting dusty. The dust damages the pieces badly.

Thanks for the advice, it was 40 dollars, and the seller says that the pieces are in very good condition. The seller has only one negative feedback and it was in the 12 month range so I am pretty trusting, but hopefully not too trusting :pir-grin:

Also, if I may ask, how does dust harm lego? I know that the sun can damage the bricks by turning (especially the older legos) them orange and yellow, but I have never heard of dust "damaging" lego pieces.

Anyways, thanks again, I am really hopeful and excited to finally get this set! I have been wanting it for a long time now lol.

The 2 sails with the cannon pattern seem fairly reasonably priced on Bricklink at $7 and $11 for the cheapest on the site. The triangle sail seems a bit much starting out at $17 though it's not as bad as what I paid for the sails for my Skull's Eye Schooner.

I got my Imperial Flagship on Ebay a few months back for around $50 but it had 2 of the 3 sails ,the wrong compass and some other minor missing or wrong colored parts. I let it sit as it was for a long time before getting up the ambition (And the money) to add the 3rd sail and correct it's other little issues but I must say she is a very satisfying little ship. Sounds like you got a pretty good deal. :pir-grin:

You should get the 2009 LEGO imperial flagship. It's better and nicer.

Come on.... he's bought that classic ship because he wanted that one, and not the newer ship - which by the way is much more expensive and a completely different kind of ship - both in terms of nostalgia and overall usage and design.

Of course he could have bought the new ship (maybe he even has that one) but that's not the point of this thread at all.

Sorry for my rant :pir-blush:

Well I basicly robbed an obviously not LEGO savvy seller. 100% complete (bar that wierd rear piece that I don't like anyway.)6271 for £15.00 :pir-sweet: , maybe I just got lucky though. (Best yet one of the cheapest birthday presents EVAR!)

I wouldn't really know how much they normaly go for, but most of the ones on EBAY were £30-£50 with a few minor parts missing.

Uhh and LEGO AFOL, the new one is a completely different ship and it is about 3x the price :imperialguard_commander1: .

The sails of the imperial flagship are very nice, so I think it's quite a bummer they are not with it. Also the minifigures being not included makes 40 dollar a maximum I would pay.

The most important parts for me are the hulls, sails, masts, cannons and minifigures.
