EverettYA Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 (edited) I thought that since I start building with real bricks rather than LDD this deserved a new topic, if not moderators feel free to merge the two. The entire rink: Bird's eye view: The Game: The group shot: The corner I am still having problems with: Comments and criticism welcome. EverettYA Edited April 30, 2011 by EverettYA Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Very nice, this looks really good, but do you have larger photos (800x600px max. size) so we could better appreciate this MOC? I really would like to see a closer view of this. Thanks! Quote
Fuzzylegobricks Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Really nice work here! I love the corner but yeah I guess it could use some work on the top edges. Now wheres the crowd? Quote

Thanks both of you for your comments. KielDaMan yes I do you i'll go and repost those soon. Thanks Fuzzylegobricks, the crowd has yet to come as I am still deciding how I want to do the grandstands. Thanks, EverettYA Quote
Redcross Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Looking great, would a hinge plate in the corners work. Quote
dr_spock Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Very nice. Hinge plates and 2x3 clear panels? Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Really nice looking Hockey rink The size is great, Not too small and not too big Oh and for the grand stands why not recreate these - or I know they are from the football subtheme but I'm sure they will work Quote

Thanks, I'll try some hinge plates for the corners. paul_delahaye Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 You need more players, 5 per side on the rink at a time and up to 22 per side in the dug out :-) Quote
EverettYA Posted April 30, 2011 Author Posted April 30, 2011 You need more players, 5 per side on the rink at a time and up to 22 per side in the dug out :-) Yes there are twelve players on the ice at a time (5 on each side plus two goalies). I am currently waiting on a Bricklink shipment of parts for more players. Thanks for noticing that though! EverettYA Quote
mobricki Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 This is very well done! Now you just need to build up the arena around your ice rink. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Great job on this rink 'E YA' It looks great. Can't wait to see more pics with full teams Quote

lightningtiger Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Excellent rink 'EverettYA', at least that ice hockey player in the collectables series is very handy - genuine looking ice skates ! Don't forget the TV crew videoing the match and the medic's on stand-by.....I believe it's quite a bloody sport ! Brick On 'EverettYA' ! Quote
Spike Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Good !! I like. But, where does come from the Torso? Quote

Yes the collectible minifigure is what started this whole idea. Indeed it can get very violent at times. Good !! I like. But, where does come from the Torso? Do you mean "where does the torso come from?" If so it comes from the set NHL Championship Challenge ¡sɹǝɓuɐȢ oɓ s͵ʇǝ⅂ ¿ɐuǝɹɐ ǝƮoɥʍ ɐ oʇuᴉ ʇᴉ ɓuᴉuɹnʇ uo ɓuᴉuuɐƮd noʎ ǝɹᏌ ˙ʞuᴉɹ ʎǝʞɔoɥ ɓuᴉʞooƮ ǝɔᴉu ʎɹǝʌ ɐ s͵ʇɐɥʇ ‘ʇɹɐʇs ʇɐǝɹɓ ɐ oʇ ɟɟo ǝɹ͵no⅄ Yes I am planning to make a whole arena as soon as the budget allows. How did you manage to get the text upside down? EverettYA Quote
dbostream Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I am a big hockey fan and I find your project very interesting; cannot wait to see an entire arena. Keep it up! Quote
Roodaksta Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Nice MOC EverettYA. It reminds me of the old LEGO Sports theme. Can't wait to see how the crowd is gonna look like... Quote

It reminds me of the old LEGO Sports theme. Can't wait to see how the crowd is gonna look like... Great MOC, that's really good hockey field. Thanks all of you! I have started designing the area and crowd. However it will be a long time until they are ready, those darned Bricklink orders really take a toll on one's budget. Also, which do you guys think would look better; an arena with a roof or without a roof? Edited May 8, 2011 by EverettYA Quote
dbostream Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I would probably go with a roof which could be easily removed if one wants to look at the details of the interior. Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I'd go without a roof. With the size of the rink, the roof would be massive and it would be better as you would be able to see the details better Quote
Vindicare Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I'd go without a roof. With the size of the rink, the roof would be massive and it would be better as you would be able to see the details better I have to agree with him. While it would look more complete and realistic, because all hockey rinks have roofs. But, that would clearly hide the main focus of the MOC. This is a very accurate MOC, well done. Are you going to put in penalty boxes and the teams boxes too? Quote

Are you going to put in penalty boxes and the teams boxes too? I was leaning towards no roof and I think that is the best choice, it also saves money. Yes I have a plan drawn out that includes the team boxes, but no penally boxes because they will not fit. Quote
