Well, the Maersk train needed a home, so I built her one on four big baseplates, including a crane bridge, a tool shed, a building with repair shop, office and control room, as well as two simple long container cars and an old short one (not much to build there) and some containers.

Edit: If you can't see any images here, it means that MOCpages is down once again – that's why I now uploaded them to Flickr, too.

Featuring my container raffle Classic Space container, as well as pallets (left of the shed) shamelessly, erm, inspired by LT12V's station. Removing the rolling stock to show more of the tracks and ballast – you know, this is an old place that hasn't been used for the recent past and hasn't received proper maintenance. Now that, as my story goes, Maersk has purchased it, it gets refurbished – the building and the crane are already done, the ground is almost cleaned, but the shed's roof still needs some fixing, and the track maintenance set, erm, crew hasn't been released, erm, arrived yet to clean/replace the ballast.

The crane's spreader is probably built more complicated than necessary, but my supply of new style Technic parts is limited (well, except for a few big sets that I don't want to take apart). It grabs the containers using some rubber bands which works surprisingly well...

This guy enjoys chopping off the corner of the crane's buffer stop (otherwise the Maersk wagons wouldn't be able to pass):

And a painter is finishing his job (the talks about a painter on the upcoming modular Pet Shop inspired a good way to do with fewer Maersk blue bricks...)

Gee, I wish the bar wouldn't be raise as much as tonight, a couple AWESOME MOC's over in the Star Wars forum and now this - okay, word is AWESOME and I love it !

This is what is missing from that set somewhere in between the train and that little container tractor !

That building in the background is perfect and so is the container loader/unloader too !

Great work 'cimddwc' and K.O.B. !

That's a nice yard, I like all the little details with the painter and roof on the old shed.

Great MOC 'cimddwc' I'd love to see your complete train set up if you have one.default_thumbup.gif

I'm fan of your work !! I'v in my project to make "Emma Maersk" with an APM Maersk Rotterdam, and (or) so, with my Maersk Train. I'm really fan of your moc, it will be very helpful !!

This is great. I really like the tiled brick design around the doors of the main building, and all the details - all that ballast, and the look of decay on that unused length of track. But really: Everything about this is great.

Nice MOC cimddwc.I love the crane!

I wish I had enough Maersk Blue to build my own crane. :hmpf_bad:

I also like the yard and the interesting back story to it all. :sweet:

Great job!

Wow! *oh2*

This is an outstanding creation! *huh*

I like the crane and its long path on the 4 wide stud railtrack

The control box is simply beautyful with that colors and old architetture style!

I like the details ...all the scene seems alive! :classic:

Brilliant work!

Wow, great work here, I really like the Maersk Building, and the loader  Also you have to love the Maersk Blue colors, I just want the train more now and I know I have to wait it just came out and I need to get older sets first  I also really like the TRU Container, is that a custom made one or from the Truck? And the Classic Space container is nice too.

Thank you for sharing this with us :classic:

Thanks, everyone!

Really nice that. How do the controls for the crane work?

Well, the claws of the spreader are connected with rubber bands and held apart a bit by plates behind them, so you can carefully push the spreader down on a container or the container upwards, and the claws snap on the container. You can see the mechanism a bit better on some photos on MOCpages. The crank operates two threads (with the rubber band providing the friction to keep everything from rushing down) which, unfortunately, can slip from side to side on the spreader; there's some room for improvement... Everything else is just pushed along. :classic:

Great MOC 'cimddwc' I'd love to see your complete train set up if you have one.default_thumbup.gif

I don't have the space for a full setup yet; I'll have a dedicated Lego room (for a train+town setup) in my new apartment, but construction work on that has only just begun, so it will take some time.

I also really like the TRU Container, is that a custom made one or from the Truck?

I turned both the Lego truck and its TRU sibling into container trucks – though instead of making two TRU containers like I did with the Lego truck, I'm saving the remaining white panels for a future building.

See it on Classic-Town.net

Great terminal - please keep expanding it! This could become one of the coolest dock/terminal scenes ever. I'd suggest adding the seafront next; and perhaps some more rails and a shunter... Don't get me wrong, I love it as it is, but I really feel that this MOC has huge potential to grow into an even more awesome layout :]

Keep on container shipping!

I don't think I'll build a seafront/harbour. There'll be a passenger station (with long platforms) and some extra rails, plus lots of modular-style houses, but even my future Lego room doesn't have unlimited space. :)

Only thing missing? The Maersk ship.

Guess where all the Maersk-blue parts come from...

Oh! You just beat me to it!

I recently bought both the Maersk train and the Maersk boat. The boat had a lot of nice Maersk blue bricks and I immediate was thinking of making a loading crane and building with those bricks from the boat.

I just have to add that this was a really nice container terminal

hmm... no good no good... now I have to make a large order to bricklink to copy your wonderful container terminal!!!

don't see this as a bad thing, just think that if lego would make a set like yours I'll be the first one to buy it!!!

really, no kidding. I plan to make a similar terminal for my future layout and since I'm a bit on the lazy way during the last period, I'll may copy some of your wonderful ideas! too bad there is not a "container terminal building contest" because you could get the first prize with no doubts!

have a nice lego train day

As others have noted, you have also beat me to it. Mine is in the works to be ready for Brickworld. I'm still waiting on several Bricklink orders. But I did expand the length of my containers to match what would be standard in the US. Regardless, your MOC will serve as an inspiration for mine although I doubt I'll go with the Maresk blue.

Thanks, again!

With containers that big (40 ft models or even longer?), that looks like it will be a substantially larger terminal... another MOC to look forward to. :)
