brickmack Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Does anyone know where to take LEGO parts to be recycled? Do they have to be taken to a special place, or can they just be put in the bin with plastic bottles and stuff? I've been going through my collection and found about 40 broken parts so far (Mostly BIONICLE ) and figured it would be best to recycle them. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 (edited) So far as I know, ABS falls under the #7 plastic category, so if your recycle program accepts that (but most don't) I think you can recycle them, otherwise I think you have to throw them away. I keep mine. I used to use them to test paints and Sharpies on a back when I did (very bad ) minifig customization, and I don't currently use them for anything now but I can't bear to part with LEGO. I figure someday I'll find a use for it. Edited April 19, 2011 by Brickdoctor Quote

I figure someday I'll find a use for it. I kept hoping that with mine, but the ones that are broken of mine are damaged beyond any hope of usefulness. The ball joint parts have the socket completely shattered, and on some of them the areas around where technic pins can go in are cracked too. I guess I'll just have to throw them away... Quote
Saint Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Don't ! Send them to Lego , first contact the customer service desk and say you want to replace them. I did that with some troublesome technic pins a while back and every single one was replaced ! Quote

Almost all of the broken parts were from the 2008 BIONICLE sets, and weren't made in other sets I don't think, so LEGO probably doesn't have any left. Quote
